Another busy day, but I did get to something I've been wanting to for a while:

Ra Scion - Sharper Tool; Bigger Weapon (2014)
This guy is such a beast.. and Vox Mod killed it on production. For those of you who like more non-traditional hiphop you have to give this album a spin.

Minutemen - The Punch Line (1981)
From Frown: An entire album of songs near or under a minute? Eh. It wasn't bad, they did a really great job of grabbing your attention and honestly it didn't sound too choppy, but they could have easily made those songs 1-2 minutes longer and had a better album. I don't like short songs, you barely have enough time to get immersed before you are jumping on to the next thing.

@Dj - There is.. I was so busy yesterday I never even got on my computer and it's hard to do this thread on a cellphone.

Anna Calvi (2011)
From Chiomara: Excellent album. I feel like her and Florence Welch are very similar. There are some nice compositions on this album, but her voice is the main attraction. The songs I liked most were the ones where she was the most theatrical in her delivery.

There's definitely a similarity. (I imagine if they were to ever perform together, their howling would rouse the dead from their slumber) And yes, the more theatrical ones are by far her best-- like Jezebel, Bleed Into Me, and Surrender.

fair enough that you don't like short songs where as I love this style because instead of riding one idea for 3 minutes in the same time span they've tried out 6 or 7 ideas

not that I'm even opposed to long songs
I was thinking about whether or not I like short songs and it's pretty case by case for me. Sometimes I feel like it's a tease that should've been fleshed out and other times I feel like it's all that they need. Punk/grindcore related stuff generally fall into the latter category for me.

Well, initially I wanted to just make a playlist of specific songs (since her best ones, like the ones I linked just now are scattered all over the place) buuuut since your thread is called "An Album A Day" I just chose an album. I still insist that Wolf Like Me is her best one, though.

You can make me a playlist.. I'll check it out, I just won't put a "review" in this thread.

PM me.. I'm really liking her, so I'll prolly dig through all the albums at some point, but some starting recos is always nice.

As you wish! (I can happily sit and make playlists until my eyeballs drop out of my skull) I'll pm you later.

edit: speaking of which, why are all the playlist threads here dead? I loved those in my lurking years.

80s! That's all I got. Good album though.

Into You Like a Train is a classic tune.
