Feb. 12 - more peasantry
Theo Croker - Escape Velocity (2016) Some kinda Jazz. Theo on the trumpet: kills it. Thundercat - Apocalypse (2013) So I've heard various songs and have always been a fan, but never actually sat down and listened to an entire album. Very happy I finally got around to listening. |

I wouldn't have cared much if I hadn't seen it in theaters, and I've never had any real urge to watch the movie again, but I definitely remember it being one of the more memorable bull**** action movies I've seen in awhile. And Megan Fox was still new and tantalizing.

Oh, and I saw you mentioned Agnes Obel (I think?) in another post; have you listened to her newest album? You should most definitely look into Anna von Hausswolff (I'm assuming you're already familiar though) if you like her. |

Yes, Citizen of Glass is growing on me the more I listen to it.. It might take over Aventine soon.
Anna has a beautiful voice I haven't ever listened to an album. I think I'll do that now that you mention her. |

Her latest is fabulous-- it's a narcotic, organ-drenched gothic horror fantasia. (A bit drone-y and sleepy at times though)
..it even included an interesting take on the song "Come Wander With Me" from that one Twilight Zone episode! ..and you really must listen to Anna Calvi too if you haven't yet; she has this divine, powerhouse voice. Edit: Regarding Hausswolff, I'd definitely recommend starting with Singing from the Grave-- that's her best album I think. Last edited by Chiomara; 02-12-2017 at 03:16 PM. |

Daedelus - Baker's Dozen: Daedelus (2017) This was cool. It has a nice variety. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress (2015) This was right on the edge of obnoxious noise and enjoyable. I did end up kind of liking it, although it did get too abrasive for me at times. Anna von Hausswolff - Sing from the Grave (2010) From Chiomara: Her voice is captivating. It had a depressing sound (which I enjoy) and then I got to Lost At Sea where she really picked it up. I preferred the slower tracks on the rest of the album, but it was still good. Great rec, thank you.

I'm glad you liked it! Are you familiar with Austra? When I was listening to Singing from the Grave again earlier, one of the songs reminded me of this one by Austra due to the stark, haunting undercurrent throughout all of it:
Unfortunately the rest of her stuff doesn't have nearly that level of intensity. (Though it's still very listenable) |

Hearing that song made me listen to the album two years ago. So so good.
