Need some opinions from musicians.
I am working on a website that is sort of like a social music site where people can come and play in a virtual studio. Think of it as Skype except with tools that musicians would like to see. I've been chugging along with it but I want to get some input from actual musicians as I am a computer science major with not too much in the musical department haha.
The Studio and Waiting Room are the main parts of the website so here is a little more about them. Studio The Studio is where all the magic happens. Invite some friends or gather a group from the Waiting Room and get ready to play! There are all the tools you'll need like equalizers, sheet music integration, volume controls, recording options, and more. Click the microphone to see a detailed overview of everything it has to offer. Waiting Room Need players? Filter all available artists by instrument and level of expertise to get the best possible match for your Studio session. Want to advertise yourself so others can pick you for their Studio session? Just enter which instrument/s you are willing to play and wait for the offers to start rolling in. The Waiting Room is full of great talent. Click the lounge for a detailed description of all the Waiting Room has to offer. I want your honest thoughts. If you think it is a terrible idea I want to hear it. Also if you have any ideas that you think would make it even more awesome I would love to hear those too Thanks |

But, as it so happens, I'm not currently in a band right now. So I'm making almost exclusively musique concrete using my mac microphone to fill the void of boredom while I attend community college and count the days until my girlfriend/best friend comes back home every other weekend. So yeah guess I'm not too busy to answer your questions.

I think it's a really good idea, but I personally wouldn't use it for a number of reasons (prefer not to start a group that way/introverted as hell). I would suggest really looking into the calibration sense of it because in order to play music like that, it has to be MORE than perfect. Even a bit of lag will **** the entire session up.

I haven't quite gotten to the implementation of the 'studio' but I have some ideas how I can get around the lag of streaming. I didn't add this part in the little bio but you will also be able to friend people and so an option is for friends who don't live near each other to have a way to play with each other. I know this sort of caters to the people who don't want to go out and find real life humans but I would assume there are people who genuinely don't have anyone to jam with and so both groups would find this useful... I hope. |

Personally, I think it's a great idea. I have no one to play with and would love to use the site. But how would you get around lag? |
