Personally, I think it's a great idea. I have no one to play with and would love to use the site. But how would you get around lag?
I would need to have a speed cut off where if there is someone with a really slow internet connection they wouldn't be able to participate since even with the most reliable timing protocols it can't get around someone whose connection can't keep up. There are some algorithms that might (keyword might) be able to handle this but my idea is for everyone to be basically in their own setting with the illusion that everyone is live. So say there are person1, person2, person3, and person4. Person1 would click the 'go live' button and would have a couple seconds to get ready but once they start a notification is sent to person2 followed by the stream of audio. Once person2 receives the notification that person1 started they would start playing and send a notification that person2 started followed by the stream of person1 and person2. So the streaming flows in a circular direction. The major downside of this is that the people upstream get screwed since they don't get to hear the finished product until it's done but short of everyone being in the same room this is my best option. Implementing the 'studio' is still way down the road but I am going to talk with my professors and see if any of them have ideas.

Similar to what my thoughts on how to deal with it were. Pretty interesting, I hope this becomes a reality, would be cool to see.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

I want to get the UI done before the semester then adding the functionality before next summer. It's just on my university server and I don't know how many privileges we have on that so once I get my own domain I'll post the link here.
