Longest and shortest headling sets you've seen
Mine are:
8/4/1978: Bruce Springsteen, Charleston Civic Center, Charleston, West Virginia Two Hours and forty-five minutes, not counting intermission. I enjoyed the show but don't know if I would enjoy seeing Springsteen nowadays. 3/26/2016: Jad Fair, Indianapolis Museum Of Contemporary Art, Indianapolis, Indiana For this solo show, the leader of Half Japanese played all of 23 minutes. Yes, this was a free stage at a music festival where it cost $ to see most of the national-level musicians. And yes, the primary purpose of Jad's appearance was to sell his art--although that's not how it was advertised at first. But I still think he could have given us a longer set. Shortest: Aerosmith as a headliner in the late 70s at their peak only played about 45 minutes cause they were so wasted. Tyler didn't even come out for the 3 minute encore which Perry sang.
Longest: Not sure cause if it was a great show I didn't pay attention to time. I have some live Zep boots that are 3.5+ hours.

Longest was a 3 hour set by The Allman Brothers Band (can't remember the date.)
Shortest was a 3 song set by Roky Erickson at the third annual Roky Erickson Psychedelic Ice Cream Social held at Threadgill's in Austin, TX on March 19, 2005. It was his first live performance in 10 years and although I was expecting a much longer set, it was good to see him onstage and playing again. |

And Jad can get away with stuff like that. At the show back in March, he had a miniature pink guitar that looked like a toy but he got some music out of it--sort of. At the end of the set, the neck came completely off, but it turns out there was a peg that allowed such detachment. Maybe it WAS a toy. |

Shortest was Make Believe. During the second song, the singer got really into the moment, yanked the mic out of the stand, and tossed the mic stand behind him. Unfortunately, the guitarist was standing right behind him and was struck in the head by the flying mic stand. He collapsed, unconscious. The paramedics were called. He was taken off stage on a stretcher. And that was it for the evening.
