A similar situation for me is when someone picks up a guitar and starts playing the opening riff to Smoke on the Water. I almost want to be like "f*ck, seriously?"

It's not so much the song itself that gets me annoyed, but the fact that nobody ever plays beyond that part and some people just repeat the riff for like 5 minutes straight.

Then there's the time I heard some kid repeatedly singing the line "came in like a wrecking ball..." At least finish the chorus for f*ck sake...

Oh yeah I don't need to hear that riff from Smoke on the Water again. Ever.

Yeah, I've heard a few of their early songs. It's interesting to hear how stripped down their sound is compared to everything else they've done, especially post-Faith album. I have a friend who hates the cure, I played him some of the older stuff explaining that they were kinda sort of punk at one point. He thought it was ok.

I'm not sure if I did this to myself with The Wall in high school or if I just kind of grew out of that album. It could go either way, since I've lost my fondness for some of their other albums that didn't get nearly as many spins.

Also, people who play Smoke on the Water are the scum of the earth.

Did you mean to post this on a different forum?

Beetles aren't that great. Don't get the obsession with them.

They were incredibly popular at the time and solidified a sizeable group of people who will firmly believe that no other group except for The Beatles ever existed and that they invented everything about modern music. Oh, and they had cute haircuts.

I understand all that. I just don't get why that obsession with them exists. The music I find bad. I like a few of the big hit songs and that's it. The rest of it sounds like garbage. Eh just me I guess.
