They really are. If they could all be loaded onto a rocket and launched into the sun at a reasonable cost to the American people then I say go for it.

Why? Is it cause you drink to forget your problems, not to be reminded of them.

I'm just gonna assume that, not only have you never been to a bar in your life, but you've never had any demon alcohol either. So why are you even asking this question?

What folks would mean by saying that one's tastes are dull is that especially given knowledge of one's socio-economic status, age, locale, etc. one's tastes are very predictable or typical.

The more important issue is whether it matters if someone's tastes are dull. I don't think it does. The game isn't to impress other people. It's to listen to music you like.

There's often some good-willed even if misconceived pressure to make sure that people are exploring their options, but even after they do, they might prefer predictable/typical artists. For example, progressive rock is one of my favorite genres, and I've explored hundreds of progressive rock artists, but my favorites are still Yes, King Crimson, ELP, Genesis, etc. (sticking to artists who are non-controversially considered prog). When I list my favorite prog artists, a lot of folks probably figure that I'm not very familiar with the genre outside of the relatively mainstream stuff. That's not true. It's just that the relatively mainstream stuff just so happens to be the stuff I like the most. That's true for me with many genres, actually. I like a lot of obscure stuff, too, but often not as much as I like the more well-known stuff in a genre.

However, when it comes to albums I prefer from particular artists, that's a different story.
A lot of the time the well known bands under fans of a genre are big for a reason. Wether it be due to uniqueness, historical significance, or just executing something really well. So I'm not too surprised the big bands are often the ones you like most, I have it too. There's just usually some more obscure hidden gems I love as well.

you know I raise an eyebrow when someone says "I'm so into Prog Rush is my favorite"
While you raise your eye-brow, I would wonder if he is a drummer. If any band is a drummer's band, it's Rush. Still they more underground than Pop artists. They were practically ignored by the RRHoF. It took them almost forever to be inducted. True, they are a "more popular" than obscure Prog bands, but that doesn't make them chop liver.

I'm a drummer and I hate Neil Peart.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.
