Last Song That Moved You To Tears
I may have already done this in my time here - but it happened again today so I figured time for a kick-start.
YES - To Be Over. 40 years later this song still slays me to the core for tons of reasons. |
Two songs made me cry recently:
& |
I know a Maiden song ("The Trooper") and maybe the odd other song has done this, but the last band, and last song to make me cry was Hammerfall's "Way of the Warrior". They're cheesy as all ****, but their dedication to metal reminds me of the way I felt about metal and therefore music as a kid, which felt pure in a way that I will never feel again, and so... well **** the details, Hammerfall make me cry. It's all about love for music I guess.
Not at all being ironic BTW. This band and this song bring moisture to my eyes. |
^That's actually really good.
|
This is embarrassing but B52s Roam came on the radio the other day when I was driving, and it completely messed me up. I don't generally find pop moving, but there's something about the vocal performance on that song.
|
^"Roam" is an amazing song. Gonna go listen to it right now. Haven't heard it in years!
|
Conscience of Archive, it is very simple but each time I hear it I am filled with emotions.
|
The only one that comes to mind is 'You've Got A Friend'. That was one of my best pals favorite songs, unfortunately, he passed away a few months back and he specifically told us that he wanted that song to play at his funeral.
|
All really great stuff. We don't know why it happens - it just happens.
Here's the Yes tune for anyone interested. |
"How to Disappear Completely" by Radiohead always shakes me up a bit. I listened to that album on 9/11. It kind of brings me back there.

I can't listen to this without getting the vapors:

Jesus.....
|
I cant remember the last time, but this song usually gets to me.
A couple months ago I also had a pretty big emotional response while listening to Novus Magnificat by Constance Demby, but that's not really a song I guess. |
I listened to this album again immediately after I found out that Ornette had died (no stranger to the album ftr, it was actually getting a lot of spins before his death too). The shock subsided at about this song and I cried a bit at work. |
That just rocked my world.
Unbelievably moving. Wow. |
pete yorn - lose you
|
Oh yeah, forgot about this song. Never had a friend die but for some reason this song always make me think about it and chokes me up. Not sure why.

I can only think of two at the moment. Both of them got me a bit choked up and misty-eyed the first time I heard them. The second one was largely in part to the fact that I saw the video version.

Listen to the lyrics of this one. |
These guys have quite a few tracks that make me teary eyed, but this one is especially rough.
Also, this always has, and probably always will choke me up. |
Does bored to tears count? I'll throw in Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah in too if it does.
|
The word is IN.
|
I don't know what you're know talking about.
|
Sad tears?
Happy tears? |
The only time I think I've ever had tears of joy was when The Magic Band opened with this when I saw them a few years ago. I think it was mostly because I never expected to hear anything from TMR performed well unless I did it myself. |

Oh ****, I almost forgot "Greystone Chapel" from Johnny Cash's At Folsom Prison live album. It's a song about the power that religion can have to give men hope and purpose, which is not generally my bag as an atheist, but the lyrics, the performance, and the circumstances of the recording make it more than just a religious statement, but also a testament to the best of mankind, even in the worst conditions.
It's the last song on the album, and afterward the inmates making up the audience would be marched back to their cells to endure a pitiless existence of boredom and dehumanization, but this song was the perfect way to send them off with as much hope as possible. The fact that the song was written by an inmate of the prison, who was also in the audience, makes it all the more poignant and beautiful. The second chorus at the end, when Cash's wife comes in, and you can hear the audience singing along, hits me hard every single time. |
Awesome pick Bat. Johnny Cash may be the down right baddest rock-star ever.

Come Away With Me- Norah Jones, My parents used to play this song all the time on road trips. The song is great in itself but the nostalgia is what really moves me.

Don't bull****. You cry at that song cause of the commercials. I can't watch those things, man.

After growing up in the age of beheadings and other readily disturbing content on the internet, videos of tremble-prone dogs begging for a piece of steak being dangled off screen isn't really that bad.
|
Hmm, I wouldn't call it moving me to tears, but it did make me feel a bit...torn, lol. The song is Unbreak My Heart by Toni Braxton.
|
Say you'll love me again.
