I had to take it a little seriously because nobody knew what to vote for. Plus, I'm not going to end the round after people kept saying "Let's do freak folk." If people don't want to vote on freak folk, keep in mind there are others who are still preparing their votes. Plus, RYM isn't as innacurateb as one would think. Sure, people can vote on RYM considering whether the albums fit the genre or not, but that's why I gave examples of the genre on the OP. I think the best thing to give the users a system to help them vote and do nothing after that. That way, I'm not making decisions that will complicate things or side with any users.

EDIT: There's no plain "avant-garde" on RYM. There's avant-garde jazz, avant-garde metal, avant prog and avant-folk. Might be a couple others, but I can't find plain avant-garde.

Alright, I understand really but when I think freak folk I instantly think of 60's hippie LSD folk. So I have no idea what the difference between freak folk and psych folk is which is why I'm bein' a bitch about this.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

I guess you could just think of it as a more experimental form of psychedelic folk.

I wouldn't say made-up as much as unnecessary. If anything they should just be interchangeable.

Okay that sorta makes sense but I still think a separate term is unnecessary (though the name is pretty badass anyways).

"Avant-garde" music is a historical term, and more real than "Freak Folk" which is most likely made-up by some amateur hipster music critic, and then applied to bands like Comus, Vashti Bunyan and Exuma retroactively.

But it apparently became official enough among folk fans. That's how a genre name gets started.

You mean post American Folk-music Revival fans, cause none of those bands are real Folk in the original sense of it meaning Traditional music.
