Jandek
Daniel Johnston
Sun City Girls
Tim Buckley

I think this is as close to "most influential" and furthest from "personal favourite" that I can get. I didn't include Richard Dawson (the best freak folk artist) since his influence probably only extends to here, so I'm proud of myself for that.

A pretty awesome one as well. I highly suggest Nico as a start o n the assumption you like experimental music. I'm still getting familiar with who likes what.

Is anyone else voting today?

Blank. 07-22-2016 04:19 PM

I don't think I'll vote this round. I don't listen to this genre nor do I have any intention getting acquainted with it. I've been so busy that I can't take the time.

Mondo Bungle 07-22-2016 04:21 PM

Godz
Amps for Christ
Comus
Sun City Girls

What is it? Is it some neologism coined by some pretentious bearded music hipster doofus? Until I find out what the heck Freak Folk is I'm voting
  1. Rick James
  2. Rick James
  3. Rick James
  4. Rick James
dammit.

btw. Comus is considered Progressive Rock/Acid Folk

TechnicLePanther 07-22-2016 06:08 PM

lol Animal Collective is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

JGuy Grungeman 07-22-2016 06:09 PM

Is there something about you and illegal votes?

You might want to look up places that have a good description. I'm still not too familiar with how to "describe" 8t it, but as far as I'm aware, it's a special kind of experimental folk.

Oh, yeah. A while back, you and I agreed I could call you "Litan..."

???

Also, not meant to be a vote, but you should make it so people who know little about the genre can vote for less than four so they can vote for the ones they know.

He was talking to Nea ya doofus, and yes to the second part.
