What I basically do is go by lists of what most people consider to be abstract hip-hop, but while excluding stuff where I go, "How could anyone possibly see this as "'abstract'/experimental?"--and there's a lot of that sort of stuff on most abstract hip-hop lists. Hip-hop has a pretty low bar for what counts as "experimental" though . . . just like there's a pretty low bar for what counts as a jazz influence in hip-hop . . . or what counts as "conscious" etc.
