They actually had Flemming Rasmussen who produced Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and ...And Justice for All.

God that is one killer track, these guys don't get enough cred. I got back into them in 2009 when this album came out.
I'll give Evile another whirl. If they are the band I'm thinking off, I think they may have had a song I liked when they were signed to Earache records. Anyone know of some standout killer Warbringer songs? |

I think Warbringer only ever did decent German thrash worship, but nothing to set the world afire.

I like Vektor, and most of the other bands that we've mentioned (a couple I'm not really familiar with), but I just don't like any of them quite as much as I like Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth or Slayer.
I certainly love progressive stuff, and a couple folks will recall that progressive rock influences are a defining characteristic of metal overall in my view, but what matters the most to me is that compositions have a combination of catchiness and emotional resonance via tensions and releases, pushes and pulls via melodic, harmonic, rhythmic, timbral etc. content. One often-frustrating thing with metal for me is that the vocals often remove a lot of potential melodic content. Other features can make up for this, and it's not as if I don't like quite a few unusual vocalists who aren't exactly opera singers in terms of melodic content, but Vektor is an ideal example where I'd like them more with different vocals. If that's the case I probably won't review their stuff again. I've never bothered to listen to Sodom, but I just can't get into any of Kreator's landmark albums (Pleasure to Kill) ect. Does nothing for me.
