And you're exaggerations once again block you from the truth. There have been times I've been open to what some people had to say. That doesn't meqn I have to agree. The sound is defined solely by the listener, and the listener can't define the sound for others, hwnce the many times I've stated "for me," as in my opinion of a genre. Sure, I'll argue on some things like whether or not a genre is purely defined by location like some grunge fans claim, but discussing genres is a favorite topic of mine. It's things like comparing a broad genre to an elephant that is ridiculous.

The elephant analogy was a caution about making a generalization from specifics, or about misidentifying things - imo I felt you were doing. It wasn't meant for "broad genres." It was to show one that a band shouldn't be considered belonging to a genre because they incorporated part of, or played in the style of a that genre, or because of perceived similarities. At least to me it seemed you were classifying The Clash as Art Punk because they seemed "artsy."
