You mean the huge genres that encompass practically everything? This thread is mostly geared to handle the smaller genres, which wikis suck at. I'm not allowing wikis.

That's just silly.

It's even more silly to call shoegaze "avant-rock." I've seen too many serious mistakes on wikis to consider it. Not to mention, wikis are extremely changable.

They can be edited but it doesn't last more than a day because they're on top of it. Also, post-hardcore is not a small genre. Shoegaze is as experimental as avant garde so I understand that.

You're missing opportunities for good battles by disregarding wiki, when it's actually a reliable source. Next you'll tell me last.fm isn't allowed.

Complete and utter "No." Last.fm and Discogs and Allmusic and RYM are the four I check most often. And since I've been having technical problems with RYM, I'm mostly checking the first three. If you can give me a good punk-specific website to look into, that's cool too. I'mm trying to use mkore "official" sources, so articles, lists and things like that aren't allowed.

Remember, music-specified websites (not wikis or user lists) are eligible sources. Bandcamp doesn't count either.
Bleeding Through are ****ty melodic metalcore and Nails are powerviolence. Neither should be allowed.

Interesting, since a lot of last.fm is based off of wiki articles.

Isn't Last.fm's tag system is based on mulitple individuals who give it common tags?

That, but it also allows people to edit them based on what they believe the band or genre represents. At least that's how it used to be.
