I have a lot of death metal on my to do list, actually. Bloody, I can handle as long as it's not excessive. I'm talking Evil Dead level blood. Besides, it's not one of my priorities. I'm more of a hard rock guy, so I don't really care if I'm not that educated in death metal's realm. It's not like I plan on becoming the ultimate fan. I'm already doing that with grunge. :P

Still, just make sure nothing has the "goregrind" tag and grindcore is almost entirely open to you. You wouldn't be forced to avoid the vast majority of bands people care about.

I hardly consider goregrind a real genre anyway, so yeah I'm open. I hate how people put "grind" and "core" with any word they can think of. Unless the sound itself if somehow unique, I ain't convinced. I'm sure I won't be able to avoid the vast majority.

By the way, that rec is actually pretty good. So far, 8/10.

Nah it's pretty easy to avoid goregrind. It's a genre of goofballs who care more about writing lyrics they can pass around to their friends and laugh like chuckleheads to than concentrating on the actual music. The song titles, band names, and album covers generally reflect this.

I've already heard 3 Death albums, Unqestionable Presence which was surprisingly agnostic given the band's name, and Cynic. To be honest, regular DM and technical DM aren't as heavy as I thought it would be, so I ended up liking it. That Gorguts album is on my list. It was actually going to be the first one I play.

Of course, right now I'm trying to get through those Depeche Mode albums I've already heard and probably play Songs of Love and Devotion. I'm thinking Depeche Mode might already be my number 3, which gives me much more time to get the fourth vote decided. I'm weighing my decision between Kraftwerk, Pet Shop Boys, and Tears for Fears.

for Depeche Mode you really need to dig into their earlier material...Construction Time Again, Some Great Reward, and Black Celebration all have synthpop musts and are all incredible albums or just get a copy of Depeche Mode 101 which is quite possible the greatest live album ever.

Depeche Mode
Kraftwerk
