Gorillaz
Portishead
Massive Attack
Tricky

With that, we have a top 3. But Bowery Electric, Morcheeba, Tricky, and Royksopp are all tied for fourth place with two points. We need a tie-breaker vote.

If the Deftrones are not Trip Hop you're going to jeopardize your other three nominations. .... don't shoot the messenger.

So, I may have top change my vote unles someone votes now. Three more hours until stoner rock starts.

Also, the round after stoner rock will be synth pop. I'm looking forward to that one. Synth Pop was one of the earlier rounds in the original RYM game. I'm pretty well prepared for synth pop, but I've been planning on replaying a lot of the albums I've heard for a long time. I've got a good excuse now, since I never really could find a synth pop band that I "love."

If I had to pick a big 4 now, I'd probably go Depeche Mode, Disco Digitale, Tears for Fears, and Pet Shop Boys.

I'm late. Sorry. Anyway, I change my vote from Tricky to Morcheeba. Her'es the final tally:

Portishead: 5
Massive Attack: 5
Gorillaz: 4
Morcheeba: 3

Next up: STONER ROCK. The round after that is synth pop. Can I get a title change to "Big Four Bands Thread Round 9: Stoner Rock," please?

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

I'll actually try to get in on this. I care about Kyuss and Monster Magnet and would dig looking more into the genre.

I don't see my list being any different from this. I generally think of COC as sludge, but they're definitely both, so that's a spot I don't have to think about.
