Sister Ray has the stupidest lyrics I've ever heard in my life and it's one of the VU's best.

I make exceptions, I still love the Dead Kennedy's despite the fact that I think Jello Biafra is a goof. I just don't like being preached to, it's great if your a true believer and down for the cause, but otherwise I'm like f)ck off, where is the Motley Crue downloads.

Current leaderboard.

Sex Pistols – 6
Ramones – 5
Dead Kennedys – 4
Clash – 4
Stooges – 4
Bad Religion - 3

So there's a three-way tie between Kennedys, Clash, and Stooges, with Bad Religion surprisingly picking up from behind.

I wish the OP separated the current round of Punk into two categories: first wave of Punk and then do Hardcore Punk.

The Rezillos
Buzzcocks
D.O.A.
Minor Threat

Me to. I totally forgot about the Clash, I never think of them as a punk band because of hardcore.

So which one's next, Big Four of Tuvan throat singing?

JGuy Grungeman 07-11-2016 12:53 PM

Nah, even subgenres are allowed, because they still qualify as punk. Back on RYM, there was a criteria, but I don't want a kind of "RYM is genre king" kind of feel on MB. If people want a more restrictive criteria, I'll try to come up with one, but it'll be pretty hard. I mean, if no subgenres are allowed, we can't include art punk, skate punk, synthpunk... so we couldn't include Wire, Devo, Television, and Clash because they generally qualify as "art punk." Plus, I don't want to drawe a line between hardcore and punk for that same reason.

Bat and I were thinking thrash metal.

JGuy Grungeman 07-11-2016 01:27 PM

Is anyone else up for thrash next? Or would you like something else? I know thrash already has an official one, but a previous idea that was brought up was to see if this website agrees with the official big 4: Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer.

There's threads with this discussion and its a tired one imo, so go with something else

JGuy Grungeman 07-11-2016 01:40 PM

You mean which of the bands outside the big four is the best? That's a little different from best 4 bands including the Big 4 for the point of seeing if MB agrees, no?

Blank. 07-11-2016 01:48 PM

I still say we should do thrash and grunge just to see if this site describes them the same as the fairly well established one. Maybe down the line we can do them again except people can't vote for the pre-established big four bands.
