I think music works both ways. It depends more from person. It can change mood from bad to positive, also for example teenagers shouldn't listen depressive music in hard times, it can strengthen affect.

It has more positive effects, at least in my opinion.

Of course, If I heard my ex's favorite song, or if I hear a song multiple times throughout the day (without me asking for it), I don't think I'll be happy. (I'll be quite agitated lol)
