Old Time Relijun - Lost Light - Submitted by Frownland Procrastination over. Let's do this. Okay, it's started a lot differently than I expected for some reason. Great vocals on the opening track. Definitely getting some low fi vocal vibes here which I think suits the overall sound. Guttural, almost animal like vocals and off putting time signatures on the guitar. Obvious Beefheart influence is obvious. Already digging the opening to this "Cold Water" track. Driving bass. Mmhmmm. Really digging this so far Frown. I'm noticing it's getting a bit more frantic and a bit more chaotic. I like the progression. Hey! Horn section on Tigers in the Temple. Rad. I kinda want to listen to this stoned now. Funky now. Album is pretty sweet all the way through. Really digging the drums and bass and the vocals give it that dirty feel. Seems to be ending with a bang too. Sweet ass album dude. I liked it a lot. 4.5/5 (I'm switching back to this rating format) Fav Tracks - Cold Water, Tigers in the Temple, The Rising Water The Blinding Light |

Not a dud in their discography imo. Lost Light is my favourite though.

Daydream Society - Dayz End - Submitted by YorkeDaddy My initial thought were that this was going to be very shoegazy after seeing the name of the band and album. I wasn't too far off but the opening track was very dreamlike but definitely felt like just an intro. The second track starts off with some keyboards so let's see where this takes us. I'm liking this so far. It's almost like a Boards of Canada album so not very shoegazy at all. Wonderful use of spoken word at the end of "Nailed Down". Yorke, you blaze to this a lot don't you? F*ck I might get stoned to this. OH **** CRUNCHY GUITAR NOW. I can't place these spoken word segments. The voices sound familiar but I just can't place them. Lots of interesting textures with the guitar use on "Brink" which I'm liking a lot. Now we got some poetry up in this bitch. I don't like the poetry, I can tell that the kid really loves what he does and to me that makes the poetry worse. I don't care about your pretty words. Sorry. Get to the music. Oh, here it is... This is totally one person isn't it? Yup. It is. Just saw that info on the bandcamp page. Gotta say, he's talented as hell. This is some intricate stuff going on here. I'm not sure if I'd listen to this again but it has certainly entertained me. Three tracks left. "Fixated" has a lot of emotion behind it. Might be my favorite track on the album. Enjoyed the ambiance of the final track and again, the spoken word. Good album. I liked it as a soundscape a lot. I may actually revisit this again. 3.5/5 Fav Tracks - Nailed Down, Brink, Fixated Recommended - Boards of Canada, From Monument to Masses, Autoisolation |

Wait, did I just review one of YorkeDaddy's albums?
Lol. I'll be honest, I never checked out his music before so I honestly didn't realize that it was his. Well, at least I gave my honest opinion. Certainly wasn't biased at all. F*ck, I'm retarded sometimes. |
