If I wanted to reveal the year I was born, I would link to a Radiohead song.
EDIT: To make mordwyr's post make sense, I also said something about guessing my birth year. My above post narrows it down quite a bit.

I felt uneasy about posting in this thread because it means I can no longer pass myself off as a teenager. Also the music of my birth year wasn't that great. Still, because ribbons has come clean and owned up to her age, I guess I'll do the same.
I was born in the year that saw the transition of the singles format from 78 r.p.m. to 45 r.p.m, when romantic crooners ruled the charts. The most interesting songs I could find were both exceptions to the predominant style, and both made it to the Number One slot: Winifred Atwell in the UK, Bill Haley in the USA :- .....
