On a serious note, you'd probably "get it" if you listened to more African music.

genuinely think beyonce's lemonade is the best album i've heard this year, followed by promise everything by basement and tired of tomorrow by nothing
biggest anticlimax was gore by deftones, truly their worst yet and i wanted to love it so so much |

i actually liked gore a fair bit when it was first released, but my interest in it just continued to disappear as time went on and now it's been months since i've even thought about it. definitely one of their weaker releases.

i'm hoping it grows on me like saturday night wrist did in 2006, i hated that when it came out and now i adore it, but i can't see gore having the same effect
it's too slow, it doesn't pick up at any time and every single song bores me, i saw them twice this year and the songs do sound better live and it did compel me to listen to the album again but i still felt exactly the same when i revisited |

Batty, I just want to say that if I could sig the last few post you made (if I had room) I would. Some of your best in a long time. (As in, funniest. Not saying I agree. Although I do...)

Batlord actually got through 3 Frownland songs? Sweet Jesus, Batlord, pat on the back. You're tough as nails for that one. If you could get through 3 Frownland songs you could have totally aced Fear Factor. In fact, I think 2 Frownland songs qualified for a round of Fear Factor and when somebody asked, 'what about three' the producers were like, 'my god man, we are not trying to torture these people!'. I hear that when they torture terrorists captured in Guantanamo Bay with Frownland's music they won't even go up to 3 full songs because they feel it's too inhumane.

Being chaotic and disorienting is the whole idea of Lizard of Ox. The way it can break your speakers also adds to the sound terrorism effect. I wish they'd at least commission some new stuff though. I could use the cash.
Atrocity Exhibition is definitely great, but I didn't think "instant classic" like I immediately did with Fetish Bones.
