Also, there's this:

Really liked the Ashra clip, rostasi. Thanks. That Berlin comp has a lot of material that I'll be exploring later, but it sounds like you'd need a pretty good car or the beauty would be swallowed up in road noise, I suspect.

Haha! I remember that from when I was once driving around N.Germany. I was in my friend's car, listening to the just-released Wall album, feeling untouchably sophisticated until we hit one of those flashing STAU signs which brought us back to earth.

Never said it was a good song. It's just meant to be entertaining for the thirty seconds it's played during the movie.

^ Thanks, dwill, but that was Pet_Sound's suggestion in post #11. Do try to keep up.

^ In that case, yes, for thirty seconds it'd be pretty good - rather like Stephen's attempt to drive us all insane:-

Spoiler for Listen at your peril:

Meanwhile, still in Germany, these are probably my favourite Can tracks. Next time I'm on an autobahn,( with a printout of rostasi's driving tips in my lap ), I'll play them to confirm that they're good driving songs:-

^ Well, at least your one is instrumental! Why on earth are people posting such things on youtube?!

Many thanks for answering my rather vague question so precisly, rostasi. I've never heard of Freytag's Pyramid, but I can see that it's a useful tool for analysing a variety of artistic performance. It reminded me a little of a sequence that Colin Wilson uses to look at an even broader spectrum of human activity, from exam-taking to sex, and that is "Tension-Release-Freedom." It's a sequence which explains, pinpoints that moment of euphoria we feel when we walk out of the dentist's with a new filling in place.

Anyway, I like the idea that sound is "an invitation to actually get rid of the frame around the window" and will re-listen to some of your electronica recs with that perception in mind.

Because the internet is a stupid place. And if you listen, you'll hear that most of the song is actually somebody's electronically altered voice saying "nyan" over and over and over and over and over again.

^ Reading it through again, I really like this line in your post, rostasi. Would it be alright by you if I put it as my new signature?

Fortified by rostasi's insight, I'm ready to listen to your 10-hour clip, Batlord. I'm planning to start at 7 tomorrow morning, that way I'll be done by 5 p.m and should be ready for one of your metal threads to round off a perfect day.

They're not supposed to be interesting. They're just novelty endurance tests.
