I'd love to read about a case study of someone healed from deafness and how that person explores the world of sound and music. Are there by any chance any?

As it stands, healing deafness isn't really a thing yet. There are cochlear implants, but they are very limited and can give a quarter of the sound available at best. There are a lot of videos of people hearing for the first time that makes for great PR for the surgery, but if you were to experience any sensation for the first time, you'd react similarly, even though you were only getting a portion of that sensation.

There's a movie called At First Sight (based on a true story) that's basically the concept that you suggested but with a blind person. Not a great film by any means, but it actually has some really great dialogue about sound from the protagonist.

I imagine they would be confused at first, but seeing them hear a piece or song that they find appealing would be cool to see.

Sounds interesting.
I've read somewhere about people whose sight was restored and who were unable to cope with it, because it was so overwhelming.
Can't remember where I read it though, wasn't anything particularly scientific as far as I remember.

I saw something (doc or a movie) where someone who was completely deaf enjoyed music simply by placing his hands on a speaker cabinet and feeling the vibrations through his fingertips. I think a person (who has a clean slate) would naturally gravitate to something is strong rhythmically, drawing from past experiences of feeling the music. I imagine they could possibly enjoy anything from Baroque to electronica.

The very very first piece that involves a melody I think something that is simple would be better than something complex. I think Gymnopédie No.1 would good choice. Erik Satie spaces his notes where you can enjoy both the sound of the instrument and hear each note follow each other in the melody. I don't know if the person would consider it beautiful, or not.

Thanks. I love reading about such stuff..
Don't think I'm going to watch the romantic drama they apparently made the movie into though.

Don't, it sucks. I watched it in my psychology class. It was the only course review where I explicitly suggested firing the professor.
