Not the best analogy, but if you applied to what Frownland said

That restaurant wouldn't last long.

I absolutely love it when a band takes risks, improvises, changes the arrangement or even genre of a song. This is in fact one of the most fun parts of a concert experience for me.
And fans usually seem to love it. Even if it isn't 100% successful, it's usually still incredibly entertaining and a fun surprise.

I'm sorry, man. I know that was pretty insulting and off-topic.

No, it's a terrible analogy. How does ordering an item off of a pre-arranged menu compare to going to watch a live artistic performance?

And you should know that some high end restaurants have an entirely new menu daily. You make your reservations in advance without even knowing exactly what the entrees are going to be the night you show up.

If you agree it's not a particularly good analogy, why apply it then?

I guess an analogy to that analogy would be going to a Todd Rundgren and instead of playing his songs in the same style that they were recorded in he reinterprets them in techno fashion. You're getting the basic idea of the song, but in a style you might not like. You might not like the analogy he's applying but the basic idea is there. To justify it, let's go back to what Frownland said and apply it to the analogy:

Nah, but that "monacle" post of yours sure was pertinent to the discussion, wasn't it? Forget to mention that post in your list of accomplishments, didn't ya?

How dare I make a joke about such a serious topic!
Did your monocle by any chance fall into your champagne glass when you read it?
Did you at least say "Well, I never!"?

Let's show him (her?) how to do it.

Grindy, you ignorant slut. At least your mom enjoyed my pulsing techno performance last night. Batlord sends his ****, I mean regards.

1. Well, I never!
2. Well, my mom never!
3. Well, the Batlord...totally might.

I think we're all losing sight of the bigger problem that has been somewhat avoided here, which is, how can we save more monocles from this terrible fate? Something must be done! Send all you can to 555-MONOCLE now. Thank you.
