I guess Buddha of Suburbia stands out among his soundtracks because only one track was featured in the show. (Hell, if we call that a soundtrack, so is Blackstar.) Plus, it's a much better album than Labyrinth or Christiane F. The brackets look good to me.

I propose we come up with cheesy Bowie-themed names for each--I don't know, maybe the second bracket could be called "Fame" and the third "A New Career in a New Town."

What you do in the privacy of your own home, to whatever soundtrack, is your business. Just make sure you clean up afterwards.

That list looks great, Grindy. Do we stick with studio albums? That suits me, as I won't be doing his live ones in the discography, but I have heard some of his live material is pretty special. Happy to leave it as it is though if everyone is happy.

That being the case, when do you want to start voting, and how long do you think is needed for voting periods so that everyone can, if they haven't already, listen to the albums?

I love his live albums, I've been actually listening to them more than his studio albums lately.
But his live discography is somewhat messy, with albums like the 3CD set of BBC recordings or the live Ziggy "soundtrack" where it'd be difficult to decide whether to include them. I'd say we limit this to the studio albums. We might decide on a completely detached live survivor if we aren't sick of it all after this one.
As for the time frame and organisation, you guys should decide. I've hardly ever participated in such threads before.

Sounds good to me. So maybe a week for each round? Would that be enough time to listen to five albums?

I say give it four days for a first round, and extend it if need be, afterwards two days a round has always been my policy.

You think that's enough time for people to potentially listen to five albums? Anyone else want to weigh in? Personally I don't think that's enough time...

Welcome back, by the way.

I could imagine that most of us here already know at least 1-2 album in each battle.

You don't want too much downtime in a battle when it looks like everyone who's going to vote has already voted. If people need more time then they can request an extension, but otherwise keep it moving.

OK. You're the Survivor Thread king: I'll defer to your wisdom.
So, when to start? Thinking maybe Monday? Give everyone who wants to a chance to pre-listen to some of the later albums...
