I was thinking the other day the only thing that could possibly top an album examining his own mortality leading up to his death would be to schedule a posthumous release from beyond the grave.

I was wondering about the metaphor of Lazarus the other day. Maybe he'll "rise from the dead" in that sense.

The opening Nile Rodgers guitar riff in "China Girl" is classic. Dare I say brilliant.

Hopefully, Lulu will be forgotten in the future. Blackstsr will most definitely not.

My written response to the news:

I was stirring when I realized that I was kind of awake. Slowly, against my own intentions, consciousness began to flood my mind as I tried to succumb to the blissful embrace of sleep. I snapped back awake. I groped around in the darkness for my phone to see what the time was, either out some sort of morbid curiosity or to see whether or not this would be an alright time for me to wake up a little early.

I took this as an excuse, forcing my head back into my pillow. I'd wait until the morning to see if it's a hoax. I knew it was a hoax anyway. Half asleep, I sprinted back to my dream world without hesitation.

"I want eagles in my dreams, diamonds in my eyes" whirled around in my mind for a while as I drifted back into the darkness.

I woke up again hours later. I only wish it had been a dream.

This is just weird. My brother texted me the news, I read it, and did what you did: went back to sleep, hoping to wake up and find it was a dream. My PC was right by me, I could have checked, but that would have made it too undeniably real, and I wanted another hour or so in just blissful ignorance, hoping to wake up and find he was still alive and it had all been a nightmare.
Sure we weren't the only ones who greeted the news like that. :(

Yeah thought that was a really nice touch. Great melody, and referencing that track may suggest he's starting a new career in a new town metaphorically by dying and moving on to the afterlife.

And that. Makes you feel envious of the souls in Heaven, huh?

Never seen this until today but it's pretty hilarious:

It was weird; I had the hell of a time sleeping that night and I'd normally check Facebook, MB, etc. if I was lying awake. But I didn't, not even when everyone else was up. My dad broke the news to me later that morning, which was a much better way to hear about it than stumbling across some article or text.

While I certainly recognize him as an icon, I never listened to his music all that much. Still, a great loss to the world.

This one never gets any credit but is brilliant.

Came across this orchestral arrangement of Low by Philip Glass.
