I know that a lot of people hate them for their popularity, but hey, I like their music. :hphones:

I'd like them a lot better if they ditched their singer. Musically they're a pretty nice hard rock/melodic metal band. I could see them being a 1st-rate also-ran NWOBHM band back in the day. Like a cross between Maiden and Saxon.

Their lead guitarist is awesome, and their drummer was great, in my opinion. :band:

From metal-archives on their name
Quote:
"A.M.S.G." stands for "Ad Majorem Satanae Gloriam" which is Latin and means "For the Greater Glory of Satan". This acronym is a modified version of "Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam", which means "For the Greater Glory of God".

We can be all cutesy and alternative and ****, but metal is where Satan dwells, even if it's goofy as ****. It's just the way it is.

I first heard this because someone posted it on MB about six months ago. Many thanks to whoever that was. This version sounds sinister enough to have Robert Johnson doing a Trollheart:- :shycouch:

[pedant]Of course, that should be "The Devil and I"...[/pedant] :)
Love that idea in Frasier, which I've mentioned before:
Caller: "My mom, she literally hangs around the house all day..."
Frasier: "I'm sorry, caller, I have to interrupt you there. Your mother couldn't literally hang around the house, unless she's a bat! It's just something I have a real problem with, when people say literally when they mean figuratively."
Caller (angry): "You know what I got a problem with? Pencil-necked, Ivy League geek eggheads who correct the grammar of their callers instead of trying to help them! THAT's what I got a problem with!" (Hangs up)
Frasier (to audience): "I think he means, that is a thing, with which he has a problem."
