The Buildup

Obviously, when done right, it's magical. Your tension rises as you get closer and closer to that climax, almost like a state of catharsis. Let's show the love. Bring the best/favorite buildups, most climactic and spirit shattering, and your buildup feelings.

I'd say City of Caterpillar are the kings of post rock infused scream (and one of my all time favorite band names and single album). Right from the get go we're building.

This is my favorite, the buildup comes in at three minutes. Honestly wouldn't hesitate to call it the best screamo track ever.

This is very post-rock, but amazingly unique with the electronica and classical elements all strung together. The whole song is a buildup to that wicked end. So much going on there.

The first half feels like a build up to Dagmar shrieking. And the part when the melodic violin comes in for a moment, only to lead into Frith torturing his guitar... **** yeah!

The first five minutes are basically one ever tensening(?) build-up.

The build up starting around four minutes with Fripp just playing those few notes again and again. And then the anticipated rocking doesn't disappoint.

Not usually a fan of the genre, but those City Of Caterpillar tracks are pretty good. Will check out their album.

How do people compose such mastery is beyond me

This is a good one.

One of the most unbelievable and awe inspiring, takes music to extremes you'd never imagine are possible

Starts around 1:30 till 2:05.

Other built ups that came to mind are the ones in Detroit rock city and in a day in the life but i think we all know those.

Pretty good build-up in this tune:

I like their live version they did on "The Gate" better. The build up may not be as prolonged but I enjoy the second half rendition of "Black Eyed-Man" better.

I'd think you would not be disappointed. Also check out Envy and Men Ad Trees. The latter is even more post rock than City...
