Do you like joyful songs or sorrow songs? Why?

I like joyful songs because they can make me happy. When I'm not happy, I would like to listen to some happy songs so that my heart will be comforted and I will get happier and happier.I have collected many joyful songs in my computer. I'm very willing to share with everyone. And I hope if you have listened more joyful songs, please share with me.

Zhanteimi 12-23-2015 06:35 PM

What qualifies as "joyful"?

The Batlord 12-23-2015 06:45 PM

I prefer songs about National Socialism.

grindy 12-23-2015 06:48 PM

The Batlord 12-23-2015 07:03 PM

I first went "Yeah Skinheads...oohhh...wait...oh...thats the two neo nazi girls who sings at neo nazi rallies.....oh...they dont mean the good skinheads..oh....well..I say good...the better skinheads." Then started hearing "Iiiiiit was a skinhead love affair!"....which is a pretty joyful song about a sorrowful thing.

I much prefer stuff that is not sorrow filled songs as they just get me down, yes I do have sad songs for sad moments or just sounding good. Yet I have mines wrapped up in fun much like Amanda Palmer's Oasis about being raped and having an abortion...Yet in a joyful way!

Or the joy that is a school shooting......again by Amanda Palmer. Well that's how I have interpreted...

Nobody spells "hitchhiker" with a hyphen, least of all Douglas Adams.

...we're getting closer to the big reveal!

Katherinee 12-27-2015 03:11 AM

I like to hear joyful songs always. Because always I want to keep myself in a festive mood. So don't like sorrowful songs anymore.

mythsofmetal 12-27-2015 02:10 PM

I like both. While my mood can improve a bit after hearing an uplifting song, in contrast to that; my mood usually doesn't get worse if I listen to a sad song. But, the main reason I listen to music is because of the pleasing melodies/sound of the song/structure, as well as the interesting subjects and atmospheres which allow for enjoyable escapism and entertainment. It's likewise to watching a horror movie or thriller which may be a little scary or thrilling in itself, but the watching of the film tends to not make me any more fearful of the real world than I was before I went and saw the film.

I do tend to gravitate a bit more towards sad songs when I'm in a similar mood, but when I'm in a good mood then any musical style which I've found a liking for at one point or another can work well.

I'm unsure if these sort of uplifting songs would be considered to be exactly joyful, but here are a couple uplifting ones which I like most of the message of (although I don't think I wholly agree with everything said, the songs still do quite a good job I think.)

Spoiler for A Couple Uplifting Songs:

Then I guess there's some stuff which is kinda stupidly silly/joyful sort of stuff which I like as a novelty, like Helloween's song "Heavy Metal Hamsters." Maybe that's more along the lines of what people see as simply joyful rather than uplifting/inspirational? Although I guess there's probably joyful music which is neither silly nor particularly inspirational.

I have some more slight qualms with this next song's lyrics than the two prior ones, but overall I think it's still quite good, and it takes a kind of, sorrowful at points but also uplifting sort of direction.

Spoiler for A Song which Shifts Between the Two Moods:

Then finally to share some sad songs which I've liked a lot, here they are in another spoiler tag.

MicShazam 12-29-2015 09:08 AM

tend to find overly joyful songs irritating for some reason. All that happiness makes me grumpy :P

Mr. Charlie 12-30-2015 05:06 PM

Songs about loss and sorrow or songs about overflowing joy, I don't mind.

So,What kinds of songs do you like best?

susu 01-02-2016 04:15 PM

My first time to watch and listen to it:
Banjo-Orchestra playing "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot"

It's so amazing and so funny!

Black Francis 01-03-2016 08:51 AM

I prefer joyful songs cause im a depressive f*ck by default and it's best i don't indulge that. This is why i love TMBG, their songs always cheer me up.

MazilynLives 01-03-2016 03:09 PM

Is mood really relevant? As a human we all feel sad, angry, happy, loving, hateful, whatever. All of those emotions are inside of us so why would you want to restrict yourself to happy or sad? I mean I know that people do that a lot, but it seems boring and sort of inauthentic.
