The Album Popularity Contest Thread
Hope Mordwyr doesn't mind me robbing this idea from him. I saw he was doing this for his own albums in the "What are you listening to" thread, and thought it was an interesting idea, so I'm making a thread to sort of expand the idea.
And the idea? Well it's incredibly simple, and will take almost no effort. Someone posts an album. Any genre you like. Even your own if you want. Everyone then votes it a Yes, No, Maybe etc and the more votes it gets for Yes, the better its chances of making it into the roll of honour as it were. If you haven't heard the album you can Vote n/a, if you're listening to or intend listening to it, maybe put Pending. You can comment a bit on the album if you like, and you can use things like Hell Yeah or A Thousand Times NO but your basic vote must be some version of yes, no or maybe. Anyone can post an album at any time, and once the votes for an album have reached a higher balance on one side or the other it will be removed from voting and placed on the roll of honour. The List so far (albums that have made the Roll of Honour will be coloured in; not sure what colour yet) Bergtatt - Et Eeventyr i 5 Capitler -- Ulver Yes: 4 No: 1 N/A: 1 The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway --- Genesis Yes:3 No: 2 Love Over Gold --- Dire Straits Yes 1: No:0 Loveless --- My Bloody Valentine Yes: 5 No: 1 Tragic Kingdom --- No Doubt Yes: 3 No: 1 Metal Machine Music --- Lou Reed Yes: 3 No: 1 Souvlaki --- Slowdive Yes: 3 No: 0 Animals --- Pink Floyd Yes 5 No: 0 Safe as Milk --- Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band Yes: 6 No: 0 Melody's Echo Chamber --- Melody's Echo Chamber Yes: 4 No: 0 Tubular Bells --- Mike Oldfield Yes: 2 No: 1 Fashion Nugget --- Cake Yes: 0 No: 1 The Presidents of the United States of America --- The Presidents of the United States of America (No Votes Yet) My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy --- Kanye West Yes: 2 No: 2 Burn, Piano Island, Burn --- The Blood Brothers -------------------------------------------------------------------- So, with all that in mind, what say you? Bergtatt - Et Eeventyr i 5 Capitler -- Ulver --- 1995

So only you (TH) post the album and people vote on it, then at some time you edit the opening post and change it to a new album? Ir anyone can post an album anywhere in the thread? Who will tally all the votes? I think the votes should be in bold as such:
Bergtatt - Et Eeventyr i 5 Capitler -- Ulver --- 1995 Yes/No/Maybe so it's easier to spot.

I will of course tally votes. And I will, if this gets popular, keep a running total for each album in the OP. Happy? Oh, and Happy Christmas. (I'm sure you have an appropriate icon; I don't).

Ulver --- 3 Yeses and 1 n/a so far, will update OP.
Remember, this is not one of my strict rules binding threads. You dont have to wait till this album is done to post one, or more, more. Post as you like. When an album has a difference of, let's say ten, between Yes and No I'll declare it to have won a place on the Roll of Honour and will remove it from voting. After that, any votes on it will not count. Similarly, if an album gets a lot of No votes and very few Yeses, again with say a ten vote margin I'll remove it and declare it not eligible, and no further votes for it will count. Or maybe I'll leave it in in case of later votes? What do yaz think?

Loveless - Yes
That's the only one I've listened to all the way through so I'll reserve the rest of m judgement.
