The term 'sludgy' is being thrown around a lot by people I've seen talking about this album and although I haven't the faintest clue what being sludgy musically entails, it seems an appropriate adjective to use.

Sounds like it was recorded in a basement with ear piercing guitars, some low fi fuzz, shouted male and female vocals and a general grotty dirty demeanor. The album cover portrays the sound better than my words will.

The Stabbed in Back record is without a doubt the best skate punk record to come out since the genre's last popularity surge in the mid 2000's. Really solid, and the band have a great sound you don't hear often in punk. Also, drumming along with this record is an impossibility, as is most skate punk. This one in particular goes to extremes, however.

Okay, got very little on the Stabbed in Back and Ezra Furman records, what did people make of them?

Perpetual Motion People is the first time I'd heard of Ezra Furman.

Based off of the tracks posted, Stabbed in the Back isn't really up my alley, but they sound like a really fun band to see live in an abandoned warehouse.

As for Ezra Furman, there's a very good reason why they didn't end up on my list.

What is Ezra Furman? Is it like Patrick Wolf?

Really surprised to see Stabbed in the Back on the list. Bjork doesn't make the top twenty five but this did? Interesting. I'd say this album hearkens back to 90's skate punk in both quality of sound and bpm. It hits home with me because of the drumming and bass playing, I really dig when bass players take it to the next level and take the lead rather then quitar. The vocals could be better and are really my only issue at times with the record. I like to hear bands that have fun and you can tell they are throwing their record label under the bus and just rolling with what makes them happy. Its just a fun take on street/skate life and I can roll a joint and put it on in the background and just forget about life for a few minutes and thats the objective anymore.

Bjork made the initial list, took three user's lists after the deadline (more the merrier) and those lists pushed her into 22nd place.

The things is the lists were in the large part all so different, that aside from like the Top 5, most albums that made the top 20 only appeared in like 2 lists. So ranking placement of albums made a lot more difference than number of appearances. Looking at the Top 10, there's a bigger gulf in points separating them from one another than 20-10 which were all within points of one another.

So this list is largely arbitrary is what you're saying?
