Music that is allowed to be played in public vs not.
By public, it could mean a variety of contexts. Shops, work, schools, down the street, etc.
In my case at work, the policy is quite lame. The only music allowed is radio friendly stuff like classic rock, censored pop, or country. At school, basically pop was played all the time because that's what everyone liked. For those of you who had music playing in the hall anyways. Retail stores are more or less the same with the pop. The only time I get to listen to the music I want to listen to is in private or at concerts. Sigh*, where I can live where the music isn't so basic.

Here in Japan, because they don't understand English, I'll go into a shop run by a little old lady who's got "yo yo bitch mutha****a Imma shove mah dick in yo juicy pussy and gets mah bling n **** niggaz!!!" crap playing.

Well, when you're at work it's understandable, at least when you work in a place where there are customers. If someone walks into a Pizza Hut and hears Cannibal Corpse then I imagine it might hurt profits.

Rebecca Black is offense on Black Friday. Hell on every day. Damn her last name and damn that song.
Jokes aside I hear plenty of people blaring pop that pussy this and bitch get my money this from their cars and doorsteps on a daily basis. Some people just don't care. Is it offensive? Not to me as an adult but, it annoys me because, there's these thing called kids. They exists. Have some respect ffs. Then again I used to blare Kittie and Slipknot stuff like that from my house as a teenager. I guess never outside though. |

I hate the notion of tailoring music for children. The world exists for all humans (though as a nihilist I only accept that on a subjective, cultural level) and it annoys the hell out of me that society considers kids more important than everyone else. Whether it be trashy art (mainstream pop) or otherwise, the art itself should take precedence over the perceived audience. Even if it's targeted at kids I really don't care. If a kid is dumb enough to do drugs or have unprotected sex or murder cops because of a song, then A.) the kid deserves to be useless, and B.) society deserves to have useless kids.
But is "Friday" really that bad? It's just a song about a day of the week. I don't know that much about the lyrics, but as far as I'm aware it's just a bunch of silly, inoffensive lines haphazardly strung together. And it's also moderately fun, so **** it.

That's how I feel about it. I don't even really like children. Cats, sure. I have two. |

Anyway, I can't really think of anything else to say about the topic because, there is so many obvious answers. Work is a place where there's certain rules to follow to please the customer. Well, I guess if you're a stripper though or a drug dealer it doesn't really matter. Though that makes me think about how easy rap songs are to construct. I could literally write a song like. Slap them cakes girl get that money slap them cakes girl twerk it honey buns. Slap them cakes girl kneed that dough. Slap them cakes Debbie who's a hoooooo hoooooo! 1# hit. |

And your first point is one big reason I don't want children. As much as I just don't want to do it I have too much first hand experience with how to fail at it to have the hubris to try, and am too much of a cluster-**** of a human being to ever consider inflicting myself upon a child.

Never said I didn't respect Kesha just said I think she has more. And that's pop. I could put what I just wrote on top of some random beat or better yet a beat that already exists and people would eat it up. Lady Gaga is still kind of super famous with a huge following despite the fact she's all over the place with music. "Artistic". I like some of her songs. She's nothing amazing though. They're just enjoyable pop songs. The reason she is so disgustingly famous and rich though is her following. Kesha has one too. Lol we're way off topic though. |
