Too bad you didn't like This Heat. It's a unique and magical band.
Though I'm not really surprised, they are an acquired taste.
Hope you'll be able to dig them at some point in the future, the deserve multiple chances.

I don't see why Frownland slavers over them. Just did nothing for me.

Now, let me count the surprised looks in the audience .... that didn't take long.

Let's try something different.

Lucien Dubuis Trio & Marc Ribot - Ultime Cosmos

Make sure you get every side, there are a couple uploads on Youtube with only one side of the album.
(It's long, I know, but it's also one of the best albums I've ever heard.)
I looked up the album on discogs and it doesn't seem that look considering each song is pretty short. Seems like it's about the size of a regular double sided LP. 4 sides right? Anyway, added.

I'm not sure I'll ever really like it but, maybe one day. When I'm full of morphine in a hospital somewhere. Half aware of existence and someone plays this and I'm just like wwwoooowww so many sounds. It's beautiful.

Who knows?

It makes me feel better that I wasn't the only one.

I might not get to anything today. Maybe an album if I'm lucky. My dad is supposed to come over and drink with us. I hope he does but, he said he's feeling pretty eh.

Psst...having the same taste as TH is not a good thing.

Too bad you weren't into the album though, but I'm glad that A New Kind of Water left a good impression on you since that's the best track off of the album. Like grindy said, they have a very singular sound that I find really infectious. Plus, given that it's from 1981 I'd say it's years ahead of its time. I also discovered the album in high school during a pretty significant period of music discovery for me, so there's a strong bias there.

Also I didn't notice that you had mentioned female vocals, I thought that you just liked vocals. So for my next rec:
Fifty Foot Hose - Cauldron

Considering I thought it was a modern band I do have to give props to something that out there being made in the 80's it's really brave to do something like that in the time period.

Yes, I do prefer female vocals. I like male vocals but, it's more likely I'll enjoy something if it's a female. Just my thing I guess. Added.

I doubt that we do honestly but, in my opinion musical taste is like fingerprints. You'll never find someone that likes exactly every little thing that you do. Not even close. We're all far to complex to be so easily similar.

Though, I know you mean that album itself and the fact neither of us really liked it. Though all that's in my head right now is shhrrriiinnnkk wrraapppp. Over, and over, and over...

You're a Ribot fan? I figured that you kind of liked him because of your Waits boner, but I didn't think you were into anything else involved with him. Replace whatever rec I have next in your Love or Hate thread with his album Saints, then.

I thought about recing you that one at some point, but you seem to dislike screechy reed instruments, so I hesitated.
