Cocteau Twins - Heaven Or Las Vegas

Cherry-Coloured Funk

Immediately I'm reminded of all the 90's movies I love. The Craft, Poison Ivy,
Jawbreaker, The Heathers. Yeah I really like dark comedies. Anyway, it's really
a cool track. Cherries. Like teenage girls that will soon be tainted by their
own temptations. I like the kind of hmm it's not so much muffled vocal as it is
reverb? Something of the sort.

Pitch The Baby

Well this one switched it up a little. LOL THE PICTURES ON YOUTUBE ARE OF
PEOPLE THROWING BABIES IN THE AIR. That aside. Hmmm, very dreamy. I like that it almost sounds like she's talking rather than singing. And now a nice little vocal to add on to that. This one almost seems like poetry. And the insturmental is very much on point with the time period. Even though I can't really understand the lyrics it's still really nice.

Iceblink Luck

So this record is very ambiant for sure. This track adds some nice guitar too
though. It fits well. Really I like the way the vocal almost sounds she's
singing under water. It's cool. Maybe it's a vibrato? Not sure if it's vibrato
or distortion but, either way it really works for this song. Oh nice suddle
harmony. I like that it's close to the vocals, it's not trying too hard.

Fifty Fifty Clown

This album for sure has a style. This track for some reason I'm not as in love
with as the rest. I think it might be too simple. Sometimes simple works. Maybe it's just that it kind of sounds like some of the other tracks on the record. There's some parts I like and I love the vocals. For certain the ahh ahh.

Heaven or Las Vegas

The title track of the record. I can see why it's the least experimental of the
songs for sure. The chorus is fantastic. I really love how it built up. This is
the first one I looked up the lyrics for it's for certain my favorite thus far
and knowing what the lyrics are make it all the better. The guitar at the end.
Yes.

I Wear Your Ring

Hmmmm. Very simple opening. This song seems a little more somber than the rest. It's still just as good as the rest. Really. There's so much going on here but, it all just works so masterfully. It's almost like two songs in one but, two really good songs that compliment each other. Not as masterful as the previous track but, I feel this works better for the vocals, the beat of the vocals.

Fotzepolitic

Yeah interesting track. Not bad but, I don't like it as much as the rest so far.
It's really, really upbeat. Maybe that doesn't bother me but, actually I do
still really like it a lot. It's like some songtress luring me into an acid trip
or something.

Wolf In The Breast

More of a simple feel here. And I can't stop thinking of a woman with wolf heads for boobs. Okay at first I wasn't really enjoying it but, the chorus was nice. I don't really know what to say here. When it gets more to the middle of the song I really like it. I love how this band layers vocals it's really cool.

Road, River And Rail

Oh, this one is darker for sure. Almost reminds me of something celtic though.
Not sure why. Her vocals, the singer they're the softest on this track. It
sounds like sweet poison.

Watchlar

And I'm at the closing track. Oh it's a little different. Has that like, rain
drops of sound thing going on in it. It really works. The track somehow seems,
sexy? It seems almost like a getting it on kind of song. Would be really
awkward if it wasn't at all and was about abortion or something but, whatever.

Over all I obviously really enjoyed this album not one track got under a green
rating. Thanks for sharing such a fantastic record with me!

If your looking for new "singers" to get into, I'd highly recommend a lot of the work of David Sylvian if you haven't given him a whirl before, specifically this record:

Horror, please review the album angles by the strokes. Really want to hear what you have to say about it.

Another one for you when you're up for it: Mark Hollis - s/t. If you need a link let me know.

I loved your review of it. It was very imaginative.

But then there are cases with albums like Metal Machine Music that are trash no matter how you want to look at it
Untrue. I was amazed by how much I loved that album, and never in a million years expected to.

Agreed, though I don't know who those guys are; just the first part

Or that one about the haunted house? No light enters or something?

Being in charge of the "Love or Hate?" thread I would suggest everyone maybe just cool down a little on the recs, as you're kind of bombarding Horror here. Maybe he's ok with that, and if so fine, but remember he's only one guy so if I was you Horror I'd use some sort of barrier, such as nobody rec anything until I've reviewed the current album or something like that. Just some advice, as these ****ers will keep throwing recs at you till you die.

Wait, before I start reviewing the next album, did it change? Lol either I'm losing my mind or I quoted a different album cover than the one that is currently there.

I have quoted David Sylvian - Secret to the Bee Hive.
You have quoted David Sylvian - Gone to Earth.

Also, currently I'm fine with having three albums to do (I have nothing better to do) but, Trollheart is right. After that I'll take on request after I finish reviewing an album. I'd do every two but, that would get confusing.

You could start your own review thread if you're up to it.

Gone To Earth is the one. I think I had the wrong album cover originally so I tried to fix it after my initial post.

Where is the correct place to do so?
