Good way to promote music on websites?
I'm kind of trying to figure out how one would best promote music on a website (as the title says). I'm trying to help a friend out, and just placing the tunes on a webpage for download or playing just seems meh. Are there any cool tricks, or perhaps even some cool websites, that will make a music promotion look a bit more interesting? I'm even up for a website that just -shows- a good idea, maybe it can inspire me to code something for him...

No worries, promoting music amongst musicians never struck me as a good idea
I was more thinking of any artists that do something flashy or interesting with their music websites. SoundCloud and BandCamp are cool technical tools, but they don't really catch the eye much... |

SoundCloud and Bandcamp aren't flashy, but they're widely used, and made exclusively for distributing music. You can also make a Facebook page. You could try some other tools as well (not that I can name any from the top of my head), but I'm pretty sure you'd only reach out to a smaller audience.
