Or we could just ignore you and do it our own way in the thread.

Yeah you could, and totally ruin it. But what would you do? What would be your proposal? Everyone say Oh yeah I heard that it was crap/ok? Where is anyone going to gain any entertainment, to say nothing of information, there? If I had just said I listened to Metal Machine Music, I would never have realised what a great album it is. That's kind of the point: you could listen to an album you think you'll hate and end up liking it. Then you want to write about it.Or you could hate something so much that you want to write about how awful it was. It's supposed to be part of the fun, but you and the Chuckle Brothers seem determined to disrupt things and try to change everything, when nobody else seems to have a problem with how things are.

Yeah, exactly. I've been saying that but Heckle and Jeckle don't seem to get it, or want to.

Incorrect. Plainview is working on his review and Goofle has three to do. My own next one is due in a few days. I don't expect it to be top of the list every day, but it's motoring along nicely. At the moment, it's surviving on this argument, but once people start posting albums again it'll pick up.

What if we just let people write reviews if they like writing reviews, and not worry about it otherwise?
And what would be your alternative, do tell me? How would that work?

??? In what you quoted, I just said, "What if we just let people write reviews if they like writing reviews, and not worry about it otherwise?" That would be an alternative.

Even if I've known an album for a long time, I wouldn't be comfortable writing a review without listening to it a couple times over 2-3 days right before I write the review. Doing that regularly online, which I've done in the past with both music and films, it winds up feeling like a chore, like a job I'm not being paid for, rather than something enjoyable.
I don't understand why that makes no sense to you. I'll break it down.

Frownland (I think) recced MMM to me. Now, under my system, I listen to it, realise I like it, write about it. In your proposed system, I DON'T listen to it (or pretend I have) and say I hate it. In your system, since I've never actually listened to it, just said I did, I never find out how great the album is, much to my surprise. So listening to the album makes more sense than not doing so.

And what would be the point of that? What would they have to say? Why would they even want to take part if they're not going to give their opinion, say what they thought of it?

Like I said, and you seem stuck on this, you don't have to do a full review. A few lines is all that's required. If you don't want to do that, then I don't know what to tell you, because the alternative makes no sense at all to me.

I don't think he actually talked about not listening to stuff.
Internet arguments are weird.

Where did I propose that you don't listen to the album or pretend you do?

And I did make a couple comments about the Freiheit album, by the way.
