All of your least favorite albums got a 1.5. If I recall your music reviews here, you gave just about everything you listened to 3.5. You are noncritical of music.

I don't talk about rubbish music man.
Also, the first album TH sent me wasn't completely intolerable. I was playing GTA online at the time so I will listen again soon and write a proper response.

Hey, sorry about the lateness of this. I forgot about this thread. I hope I've not inconvenienced Trollheard, The Buttlard or anyone else. Granted, it was something that I listened to a week ago, but I'll do my best.
Coming from an era where vapid pop tunes are mostly entirely expected to be bangers, I was sort of surprised that the album doesn't really ever pick up, remaining in a sort of vague arena of music that would be better as vaporwave than music. It also fails to bring any really memorable hooks to the table (with the exception of "Hit me baby one more time", which might just be memorable because its been drilled into everyone's collective consciousness by then teens and the radio. I also think I was barley old enough that this song was still circulating to a certain extent by the time I was cognizant of what differentiates one song from another, or whatever). I remember a duet at one point that just sort of trailed off into mehland as well as a song featuring some sampled cuban drums (I think). I actually rather enjoyed the later (it's one of the more energetic tracks). There was also a point where there was a guy who sounded like that rapper on Rebecca Black's Fraiday I think. Britney's voice is interesting in that it's not terrible enough that I'm mostly not accutley aware of the fact that it's bad. It's sort of just good enough that the listener stick around to be annoyed as much as possible. I mean, she's really not a good singer. Not pitchy or anything, just monumentally boring. But there's really nothing on this album that stands out as irritating to the point of repulsing me. I'm probably not going to listen to it again, but I think I mostly got through it without a hitch. I hope that's enough to convince you that I did indeed listen. Again, it was a week ago so I'm doing my best . |

Are we to assume you're still staying here on the list, or do you want me to remove you? Nice one anyway. (Pity about the double post; maybe delete one?)

We all need a boot up the arse, including me! Everyone's slipping. I should have issued Yellow ALerts days ago, but since I failed to do so everyone is getting some extra time. However, the Yellow Alerts go out today, so from today you have four days to do the first of your recced albums. If you don't, then on Saturday a second Yellow will be issued to you, and on the next day if you have not completed or at least started your review you will forfeit your score. Extensions are available if you have a good excuse, but in general I'd like to try to keep this moving along, and everyone is building up a backlog so we need to get on this. Obviously, nobody expects you to listen to three or four albums a week, so for each additional album recced to you you gain an extra week. For example: say Frownland has four albums not yet reviewed. His first is due Sunday October 25, then his next is due November 1, the next November 8 and so on. Of course, you don't have to wait, if you feel like getting a review binge done, but these are the maximum dates allowed. The OP has now been updated with everyone's albums, dates recced and dates due. As Yellow Alerts are issued, the album in question will be coloured pale yellow for the first and dark yellow for the second, so that you can see at a glance when you are running out of time. Yellow Alerts will be issued in the next post, and you will also receive a PM, so that you can't say you weren't warned. Anyone wishing to apply for an extension please let me know, but be aware you can only have two extensions per album, to a maximum of one week per extension. After that, you automatically forfeit your score to whoever recced you the album, and there will be no further warnings. So let's get some reviews done, huh?

All the below need to be reviewed by Sunday, Oct 25. Frownland: New Jersey (Bon Jovi) Deadchannel: Rockin' with the rhythm (Judds) Batlord: Lost Shadows: In Defence of the Soul (David Topp) Oriphiel: The Road to Hell, Part 2 (Chris Rea) Ninetales: All Black and Hairy (The Gravedigger V) Traveling Alone: Heart in Motion (Amy Grant) PMs will also be sent. A second Yellow Alert will be sent, should your album not be reviewed before then, on Saturday Oct 24. You will then have one day to review or forfeit.

Heart in Motion - Amy Grant I guess I should admit Amy was born like 20-30 minutes up the road from me, and yet I know little to nothing about her. Good for Me - I knew coming in this probably wasn't my cup of tea, and so far I'm right. Not that I have anything against good pop music, but its generally not my thing. The first couple seconds of the song are pounding drums (machine) followed by a lot of synths. I have a really hard time describing this type of music, as its something I don't listen to really. Overall, not an awful pop song I guess. If you're into it, I'm not though. Baby, Baby - This was one of the big singles from this album, and one most anyone who's ever turned on a radio has likely heard. Heavy synths here. The one thing I can say about this song, is that a lot of time this particular type of pop music sounds mechanical at times to me; And this song does a really good job of staying away from that. Every Heartbeat - A little saxophone here. Something different from the previous two tracks. Another feel good song. Exactly what I'd expect from this type of album -- And that's not an insult. That's What Love is For - A ballad. Grant shows off her vocal abilities. -- Being a lot more laid back and concentrated this one makes you feel like the album is taking a turn. Much different feeling from the previous tracks. Ask Me - This one starts out with a lot of potential and a pretty strong subject matter. The song takes a turn to becoming more about God but I suppose that's to be expected here. -- Kinda ruined the song for me in the end. Galileo - After a pretty serious song in Ask Me you're back to a less serious song. Catchy though. The f*cking chrous, man. Its one of those that sticks. While catchy though, the song still seems to drag on a little. And I believe is the longest song at this point. You're Not Alone - Another somewhat heavy feeling piece. Some pretty cool guitar work around the 2:40 mark. The first time I've felt that on the album so far. I guess in many ways its suppose to pick one up, and be positive. -- [Probably not the ideal thing for someone that's been on an Elliott Smith kick lately..or maybe its just what someone on an ES binge needs lol.] Although at this point every song seems to be dragging on and its becoming torture because of it. Hats - Something about this song is kinda funky feeling, a bit quirky to me. Song seems to be about the many jobs of a mom. Something I can't really relate to I guess, but can appreciate. Digging the usage of the horns on this one, too. I Will Remember You - Another one of those ballads. Love song. What I'd expect from an album of this type. How Can We See That Far - Okay. A song that almost seems out of place on this album. Don't get me wrong I love for albums to cover a range of feelings and emotions, but this one seems to go from a lot of really fun, upbeat, what you would expect, pop songs to all of a sudden a somewhat melancholy in comparison song in this one. Hope Set High - Another ballad type song. Again with a lot of really strong Christian lyrics. I guess it ties everything else in the album up to a point. Eh. TL: 50%. - Again, not an awful album if you're into this type of thing, I guess. I am not into this type of thing though; and while I thing aspects of the second half of the album were better than the first, the second half seemed to drag on for ages. That was really the torture.

I think it's hard to torture someone with relatively calm, minimalist music like that.
If one isn't into it, one just kinda zones out and isn't really bothered by it. Not that I haven't thought about subjecting people here to such stuff.
