You know the band that comes out with a pretty stellar album and then breaks up for what ever reason.
The two that jump out at me both feature Clapton: Blind Faith Derek and the Dominoes Then there are a pair from the early punk era: Minor Threat Sex Pistols What other "one and done"'s would you recommend checking out? |

![]() GREAT list. I have JK and CO. already, as well as Yesterday's Children, but do not know the rest. This will be a great weekend, checking out all these bands. Here are a couple other bands from the same period and style: Bodkin Spoiler for Bodkin - Scottish Prog:
Uriel or Arzachel (depending on what you read...) Spoiler for Arzachel - British Psych:

Here are a couple more good ones I thought of after my previous post... Blue Mountain Eagle - Blue Mountain Eagle (1970) Dantalian's Chariot - Chariot Rising (1967) The songs on the Dantalian's Chariot album were recorded in 1967 but the band broke up before they could release a debut album, so the actual album release date wasn't until 1996 on that one. |

The band was known as Uriel, but used Arzachel as the name for the album. Egg were under contract with Decca and the member uses pseudonyms, hence the names on the Arzchel album are Basil Dowling, Njerogi Gategaka, Sam Lee-Uff & Simeon Sasparella. Uriel continued on as Egg after the guitarist Steve Hillage left. So it's not strictly one and done. As far as I know there are four studio albums all together, one Arzachel (Egg members + Steve Hillage) and three Egg albums, and a few compilations and live albums released afterwards decades later.

First album that comes to mind is The United States of America self-titled.
Another really solid one is Cromagnon for the level of weirdness they brought to the table. Theories that these gentlemen are The Residents are out there, but I don't believe them anymore since it doesn't match up geographically. Negativa has members of Gorguts in it and only released a 3 track EP after one of their band members died ![]() Not sure if they're done yet, but Lumbar makes some incredible ****. Interviews I've read made it sound like it was a one time thing.
