What if [Insert Musician Here] Had Lived Longer?
 

This is the thread where we speculate what it would be like if a certain musician had lived longer or was even still alive today. Be as outrageous or as realistic as you would like with your theories.

Contrary to what people say I think if Biggie/Pac didn't die rap still would have ended up the way it is today. Maybe this belongs in unpopular opinion section? Seems like something a lot of people say but I don't buy it.

A really obvious one but... what if Jimi Hendrix was still alive? I think he would've released some great, influential music throughout the 70s. Though, like most of his 60s peers, I think he would have kind of floundered in the 80s and released a bunch of cheeseball stuff. I think he might have regrouped and put out one really good album in the 90s before lapsing into nostalgia tours and long gaps between forgettable releases.

Yeah, Hendrix would've surely had more in the bank so to speak.
I saw a few artists speaking about this in some VH1 interview a while back (there's only slash that I remember) and almost all just said that he'd would've started making crap :( I found that a little harsh

If John Bonham had lived Zeppelin would have stayed together for a few more years and really tarnished the crap out of their legacy.

Toward the end Hendrix would have to be basically carried to the stage/studio by handlers because he was so drugged out. He would have had to have quit the drugs in order to continue on.

Bob Marley - Then & Now

^Bob Marley would have continued to be a reggae superstar, with many successful albums to his credit, recording and performing to the present day. A collaboration in 2012 with rapper Snoop Dogg, would lead to a chart-topping album of reggae/rap music, resulting in a wildly successful world tour and a spin-off line of hemp clothing released under the 'Bob-Dogg' brand name.

Elvis Presley - Then & Now

^The King would have continued to record and perform live, leaving Memphis to relocate to Las Vegas where he would have gone on to be the top-grossing and longest-running lounge act in history performing on the Vegas Strip, occasionally leaving the stage to appear in various TV shows, commercials, films, and charity fundraisers. His work as a spokesman for Viagra would make him millions as the top pitchman for the Pfizer pharmaceutical company.

I like to imagine that Hendrix would have fallen in with the more experimental jazz crowd. Some albums with Miles Davis, some with members of Soft Machine, something with Brötzmann in the vein of Last Exit with him instead of Sharrock. Then at some point an improvised noisy solo guitar album...

I could also see Miles picking Hendrix up at some point.

They did make plans to record together shortly before Hendrix' death.
And he did jam with Roberty Wyatt at least once.
