Default Song Recommendations (I'm New)

So I made this account six seconds after touring the place (nice gig). I still don't know if this ks the right place for me, but I was originally looking for song recommendations specifically without having to plug myself in for endless hours sampling and trying. My criteria is simple, I don't really need any big names or stuff like that, I listen moee to lyrics and their meanings. I'm really attached to James Blunt, Richard Marx, and Michael Learns to Rock. Songs that are sadder appeal to me compared to cheery ones, and popular songs that everyone's listening to is something I like to avoid to. Specific songs to the artists I mentioned I liked are 'Tears and Rain', 'Nothing To Lose' and 'Right Here Waiting'. Any help would be well received, and if admins think I messed up somewhere, I would be happy to have it moved or something.

You really should make an introduction thread. Immerse yourself into the community.

Listen to the small creature; he knows whereof he speaks.

The best way to get recs is indeed to get to know people (especially the likes of Goofle) and get a handle on what they're listening to. Then check out the various threads such as "Albums you're digging", "What are you listening to right now?" etc.

I'm not sure if I want to commit fully into this because I'm very sure not a lot of people listen to the songs I like, and will disagree on my opinions of music.

EDIT: After Googling around to see if there are any topics I could us round here, I realise everyone universally hates James Blunt, which goes to show I will not be well received here.

I don't, but I'm probably in the minority.

However, as I found, the fact that people may not agree with your musical taste is no reason not to be a member here. I hate a lot of the music some members here love, and we go at it constantly. It's fun, and on occasion one or the other of us can end up converting our opinion on various songs and/or artistes.

It is banter, after all. You just need a reasonably thick skin. Hell, The Batlord is into death metal AND Ke$ha! We have a wide, wide, WIDE variety of musical tastes and interests here, and there are constant arguments and even knock-down fights over why my musical taste is perfect and yours is crap, and so on. But it's all in fun.

You should stick around, see what it's like.

Ok, granted, I stick around, but I'm still not sure where to take my business. The genres are funny when I search it up, it says 'pop rock' and I'm not sure if I should take it to pop or rock, and the other stuff are equally vague: 'folk rock', 'soft rock'.

Take my advice, and hang out in the Lounge. That's where you'll see us at our most relaxed, you can talk to people, join in on unimportant discussions, and sure you can always decide where you want to post, or even not post, just read. Most of the threads are quite interesting.
