Default Favourite Albums of 2015 (so far)

Since we're over half way through the calendar year, I figured now would be as good of a time as any to discuss the best albums of the first half of 2015.

I put a list together of my top ten so far this year, and at the moment they are:

Florence + The Machine - How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful
Jamie xx - In Colour
Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear
Elvis Depressedly - New Alhambra
Jme - Integrity>
High On Fire - Luminiferous
Vince Staples - Summertime ‘06
Death Grips - The Powers That B
Kendrick Lamar - TPAB
Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell

What are some of yours?

Don't get to hear near as much music now that I'm employed. So much I still need to hear.

Top 10:

Gaz Coombes
Courtney Barnett
Sleater-Kinney
Sufjan Stevens
Decemberists
Kamasi Washington
Django Django
Faith no more
Jim O' Rourke
Chastity belt

Dont get the Father John Misty love, album kind of bored me but maybe I should listen again.

I'm slacking on the 2015 releases. My favorite stuff that I've heard:

Mount Eerie - Sauna
Sun Kil Moon - Universal Themes
Sufjan Stevens - Carrie and Lowell
Death Grips - The Powers That B
Earl Sweatshirt - I Don't Like ****, I Don't Go Outside
Little Wings - Explains
Big Blood - Double Days II

The singles I've heard from the upcoming Chelsea Wolfe album is hinting towards her as my AOTY, along with the new Mount Eerie. The new Beach House single was pretty cool but I'll have to wait and see when the album drops if it's AOTY material. My high hopes for a Joanna Newsom comeback this year is pretty much dead. The new Tallest Man On Earth was alright. New Waxahatchee was alright. Wasn't as in love with the Kendrick album as everybody else, but I'm not much of a rap fan. New and unexpected Sharon Van Etten was cool. Yet to listen to the new Titus Andronicus.

One of the strongest rap albums of the year for sure, I think it was slept on a little bit because of it being released so close to TPAB.

Most definitely, it's the best hip hop record of the year hands down.

1. Billy Woods - Today, I Wrote Nothing
2. Matana Roberts - Coin Coin Chapter Three: River Run Thee
3. Jesus the Carpenter - The Oblique Perspective
4. Africa Express Presents: Terry Riley In C Mali
5. Wolves in Sheepskin - How Your Mother Cried Last Night
6. Zu - Cortar Todo
7. Death Grips - Powers That B
8. The Pop Group - Citizen Zombie
9. Peter Brötzmann, Keiji Haino, and Jim O'Rourke - Two City Blues 2
10. The Body/Thou - You, Whom I Have Always Hated
11. Monkey Plot - Angående Omstendigheter Som Ikke Lar Seg Nedtegne
12. Liturgy - The Ark Work
13. Colin Stetson & Sarah Neufeld - Never Were the Way She Was
14. Jim O'Rourke & Oren Ambarchi - Behold
15. John Zorn - Hen to Pan

I'd say that the top five are the only ones that are in order. The rest could be switched around a bit.
