Goofle's recommendation corner

Okay, so this is basically a reversal of Trollhearts thread, in the hope that other members of the forum are encouraged to review albums and give their opinions on music. How it works:
  1. You give me a description of the type of album that you want me to recommend.
  2. Based on your description, I suggest an album or two that fits said description.
  3. You listen.
  4. You review.

I will use this post to keep track of the recommendations and post links to the reviews.

Spoiler for Plainview:

Spoiler for Grindy:

Frownland 06-28-2015 05:17 PM

I want some music with metal and free jazz influences like Zu, Ultralyd, or Combat Astronomy.

Key 06-28-2015 05:18 PM

I want things that don't sound like Wolves in Sheepskin.

Trollheart 06-28-2015 07:32 PM

I'd like some more dark gothic Country like that Strawfoot you put me onto and was so good.

Also, I would suggest letting each member go one at a time, for instance say Frownland wants jazz metal, you recommend, then he listens and comes back with his thoughts. Then grindy wants dark electronic, you rec, he listens and comes back but ONLY after Frown has finished. Otherwise as you say it'll be a cluster thing.

I find that a signup sheet is usually a great help in keeping control of things like this.

Key 06-28-2015 07:53 PM

^If Goofle wanted to keep posts in control, he could've made this a journal or put it in the editors pick. You can't just tell people not to post when they have thoughts about a rec that they want to talk about.

Goofle 06-29-2015 01:34 AM

Well, if you read the OP I voiced my concerns about it becoming a cluster, so a sign up sheet and an order would make sense. Let's see how much interest there is in the format before going any further though.

grtwhtgrvty 06-29-2015 04:50 AM

I want something that sounds like nothing I've ever heard before

Trollheart 06-29-2015 05:04 AM

I think, in the light of what grtwhtgrvty has said above, it might also be an idea if people gave a general idea as to what they have heard, or are into, so that you know not to rec stuff they already have. For those people whose music taste you don't already know inside out, I mean.

Goofle 06-29-2015 05:08 AM

I'm busy for the rest of the day but if there's a few more interested members by the time I get home I'll post the order in the OP and give out some recs.
