Pre-1990 music that hasn't aged badly

I'm not totally sure I understand what this thread is asking for. A song like "Making Plans for Nigel" sounds absolutely of its era to me. It's still a good song though. I think a lot of music ages well without necessarily being ahead of its time.

I may be totally off the mark because I don't "get" the rock scene, but that's where I'm at.
