SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

David Bowie - Station to Station

Probably my favourite Bowie album along with Low.

Alright, then. Finally getting back to it.

Album: Plague Mass
Artist: Diamanda Galas
Genre: Avant-Garde
Suggested by: The Batlord
Familiarity: None.

1. There Are No More Tickets to the Funeral - It was alright. I can't decide if her voice is good or not. I'm gonna say that the high-pitched parts are definitely not good, and the lower parts are a bit better. The lyrics are extremely unintelligible unless she speaks or growls them. After a certain point, the whole thing is pretty annoying. Did I mention the whole song is just spoken word combined with strange vocalizations?

2. This is the Law of the Plague - Well, at least we have some drums this time. And the lyrics are a bit more intelligible. The audio sounds like the preaching of a cultist. Holy crap, she does this weird thing with her voice. It's so annoying. This song would be better without her. Or maybe just keep the spoken word parts. Oh my gosh, this is so bad.

3. I Wake Up and See the Face of the Devil - Got some buzzing, and some tinny drums, to go along with our main star of course. It's still bad. Then her voice goes away, and it's just weird noise. Great. A million times better than her BS.

4. Confessional (Give Me Sodomy or Give Me Death) - Same crap. This is torture.

5. How Shall Our Judgement Be Carried Out Upon the Wicked - The drums are back. The noise is annoying. Her voice is annoying. This album is SOSOSOSOSOSO bad.

6. Let Us Praise the Masters of Slow Death - Slightly better, I guess. More drums, and less of her screeching.

7. Consecration - It's creepy and weird for a while, and then her vocalizations come back.

8. Sono L'Antichristo - Well, look at the title of the song. I can't understand the lyrics. Must be in spanish or something. Whatever. This song is slightly better. More background voices, more drums, and more of her low vocals. It's kind of cool, actually.

9. Cris D'Aveugle - She's still annoying as hell, but the song is a bit more creepy and atmospheric this time. It's getting better towards the end here.

10. Let My People Go - Got some piano this time. Albeit avant-garde piano, but another instrument nonetheless. This one actually sounds like a song. It's pretty good, and there's definitely some gospel influences in there. It's just her non-annoying vocals and a piano, but it manages to be very atmospheric and cool. This is definitely the best track. (There's some clapping at the end.(Why?))

The majority of this album is trash, but the ending pulled it together a bit. The concept is pretty cool, and the lyrics are alright, but her voice is SO annoying that it ruins anything else about the songs. Anyways, this albums sucks pretty hard, to justify my rating.
OVERALL RATING: 2/10

That's a great album. I really love her voice.

You should review Hex Enduction Hour by the Fall.

Great rec. Top 5 post punk album material as far as I'm concerned.

I don't get it.

I actually tried to review Frownland, but it really annoyed me for whatever reason. I think I must be tired. My point is that my exhaustion may have affected my perception of Plague Mass. Though I REALLY disliked her voice. Maybe I'll give it another chance sometime.

If you would like I could send you some more tasteful nudes than whichever ones YorkeDaddy sent you.

It was a live album where she basically used performance art (naked from the waist up and covered in fake blood) as a way to attack the so-called moral watchdogs who were spewing hate towards gays during the AIDS crisis of the 80s/90s (This was recorded in 1990). She's a big gay rights activist (her gay brother died of AIDS), and this album was made up largely of songs from her previous three albums, all of which were entirely concerned with the topic.

Yeah, this. It's possible you'd be into You Must Be Certain of the Devil, TLP - it's the most accessible of the three AIDS albums and it has "Let My People Go" on it.
