Thought about posting Killer Queen in this thread.
Shouldn't that be "One Vision"?

Like to congratulate FaSho as this thread has really ballooned overnight (for me) anyway. So here comes Trollheart, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes and with a whole bunch of replies:

ETA: Anyway I would say "A Change is Gonna Come", but I played it in Plug once and Norg thought it was mediocre, so I guess I would be wrong.
Well, Norg is not technically a person ...

I'm already the most negative person in this thread, so I guess I'll just throw in that, in my opinion, "Here Comes the Sun" and "Tiny Dancer" are terrible, terrible songs and "Comfortably Numb" is mediocre and boring.

I think I'm on board with "Call Me Maybe" and "Mr. Tambourine Man" though.
Sacrilege!

Summertime is obviously great and there's nothing really wrong with Stairway To Heaven, it's just overhyped and overplayed.
Glad to hear that. I also love StH so **** all you haters. It's just cool to hate it now. Philistines.

What about classical music? Not everybody likes it, but hardly anybody actively dislikes it. Or doesn't the term song fit there?

Something like that. Also overplayed, but nice.

Love classical. Except some chamber, can be really boring.

Another one from me; I just have loved this song from a very tender age. May in fact be the first song I remember hearing.

As someone said, the thread is sort of becoming a "favourite songs" rather than the original intent. I think one of the criteria for a "song everybody likes" is that it has to be a song everybody knows, something that when it comes on the radio or TV or at a disco, party, whatever, everyone says "Yeah this is a great song." While some of the songs we've posted are ones we think are great, it has to be said that many of them would just be greeted with a shrug by a large percentage of the population, most of whom would not even know who the bands were.

So in that spirit, try these. While they may not all be particular favourites of mine, I think few could say they don't know and like them. With the possible exception of Fleetwood Mac, but since it was used in a presidential campaign it may be better known than it would otherwise have been.
