I'm surprised that you care this much about a non derogatory statement made towards a genre that you don't even like.

YorkeDaddy 05-24-2015 03:44 PM

Maybe because it bugs the fuck out of me when someone makes such a stupid generalization? If noise music is only "for people that like to learn and deconstruct music" then I'm not exactly sure how he's gonna explain how I qualify for that but don't like to listen to noise. He says stupid shit like that constantly.

Reminds me of when he said people that like esports are all geeky rejects that never got to play physical sports in school, I mean seriously how can you be so ****ing dense

Black Francis 05-24-2015 04:35 PM

I could ask you the same thing, you see no matter what i say you'll take the opposite stand, here you are mad you don't fit into my generalisation but im sure that if you did it would bother you too and you would probably argue against it.

Most times you have very little to add to subjects all you seem to do is point out the flaws in other ppl's post and most times you're an assh*le about it.

Even if make stupid generalisations or say obvious sh*t, what's so bad about that? in comparison to your needy contrarian behavior that's not so bad.

YorkeDaddy 05-24-2015 04:43 PM

Very typical, "you're the problem not me" in the face of criticism, even though you should probably notice that very few members get singled out by me like this, maybe it's because nobody else here makes ignorant, commonly insulting generalizations like you so naturally I'm going to be pretty disgusted with many of your posts.

To offer a pragmatic restructuring of Black's comment, I believe he was addressing the fact that one of the prominent characteristics of much of the noise genre is that it readily lends itself to consideration and reflection.

The sonic properties of many noise compositions invite the listener to consciously detect particular nuances and structures within the "noise" in an effort to formulate concrete, critical perceptions from the otherwise superficial chaos of the piece. This characteristic often attracts the sort of listener who enjoys this sort of analysis and deconstruction.

While the above statement is true for much of noise music culture, others are equally in their own right to simply enjoy (or to dislike) noise for a variety of reasons which number as many as there are listeners.

Music is wonderfully personal that way, whether it be noise or top 40 pop.

Now you're just being a drama queen, you don't think im disgusted by your sh*tty attitude around this forum? almost everything you say it's in an a condescending way and you're disgusted by my generalizations?

Didn't we have this argument in the past before? it's f*ckin obvious there are exceptions to every generalization, what do you want for me? to cover both side of every issue? for what? for when i contradict myself you can call me hypocrite? cause you will, that's what you do, look for an opening to prove me wrong and therefore prove you right.

the subject of the discussion is always arbitrary cause that's always your end goal.

I'm condescending towards the people I find unlikable or ignorant, I'm sorry that you fall into one of those categories

All I want from you is to stop making stupid generalizations lol, didn't I make that clear enough?

Really, I don't fancy the genre very much, but I remember this one song that I stumbled upon that left an impression on me. Even though it was fairly simple, it kind of sounded to me like the inside of a house, with a few creaks here and there, while some kind of storm was going on outside. Through it all, there was this steady sort of sound, patterned almost as if something was dripping down. It could have just been a leak in the ceiling, but I kept imagining that it was blood, falling to the floor. So yeah, I don't listen to Noise/Drone music very often, and abstract music isn't my favorite type, but it's fun to enjoy every now and then. A different kind of experience than the more traditional types of music, you know?

Yes, you're right, they are different. But it isn't that ridiculous to group them together in this instance, since they're both similar in the sense that they're both rooted in challenging traditional musical conventions, and are typically more abstract than the Pop, Rock, and Rap that dominate mainstream music.
