Multiple stage outdoor shows
Never been to one. What's the experience like? There's gotta be some bleed sound wise I'd imagine. Is it distracting? Do some folks sort of mill about in a middle ground between bands?
Share some stories about what these are like. (one was advertised on the radio this morning and it got me wondering)

I've never experienced any sound bleeding through. They'll engineer them to be at off angles and distances enough to drown out any ambient noise from any neighboring acts, and of course sometimes there is a midpoint where you get both bands if you stand in the right spot. Can't say I've ever known or noticed anyone doing that though. They can be a bit of a mind-**** if two of your favorite bands are playing at the same time. Best to check lineups, and have a plan before going into it.

I also have never experienced any sound bleeding, the music is usually loud enough and the stages are positioned just far away enough that it's never a problem. Also if two stages happen to be right next to each other, they obviously do a good job not scheduling two bands to play those stages at the same time. But yeah, it's best to have a plan in advance, because you really can't focus on two bands at once.

I've been to roughly 25 outdoor music festivals so far in my life and the only time I've ever experienced noise bleed between stages, was during the Reading Festival in 1996, when Tortoise played on the NME stage. It wasn't noise bleed between stages but noise bleed from some truck which had been parked next to the NME stage and was pumping out some mindless, repetitive prerecorded EDM crap while Tortoise was playing their set. Somewhat annoying, but the musicianship of Tortoise was good enough to overcome the sonic swill, spilling over from the EDM dance machine garbage truck.
Other than that one incident, multiple stage festivals have always been well managed in that respect, as far as my personal experience goes. |

I've been to a couple over the years and I've never experienced any noise bleed from other performances. Overall, I've always enjoyed myself and had a great time. I think the only incident I remember clearly was when they knocked over a porta-potty with a dude inside of it. Now that was just plain funny. Of course, nobody would stand near him after words though...
