Love or Hate?
I believe this has finally run its course. I no longer have any interest in continuing it, so I am locking it up now. Thanks to those who played, but this is where it ends.
Recs are now closed forever. Please do not submit albums as they will be ignored. The Big List I finally got around to creating a full, alphabetical linked index. It's obviously going to be too big to insert here, so I'll split it into any of the other posts on this page that I can. Those posts may have a comment on them. Can't help that. Note: These are all alphabeticised according to the artiste, then the albums. None are coloured, as that would have really pushed the character count up. I spent a lot of time on this but I could have missed something so if anyone spots a mistake, album rec credited to the wrong person or whatever, just shout. miRthkon - Vehicle
A fun proggy record that could suit your fancy. |
To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Pretty much definite that you'll hate this. |
JoJo - #LoveJo (2014)
I really like it personally. Contemporary Pop/R&B EP by the all grown up teen sensation. She covers Phil Collins and, from what I gather, you're a fan. |

lmao we're gonna have him listen to Kendrick?
If I couldn't even get him to go past track 2 on Nujabes which is far less...hip-hop-y, then we sure as hell won't see him finishing TPAB |

The Nujabes qualifies as I only listened to one-and-a-half tracks originally. |
Yeah, to appreciate To Pimp A Butterfly, you have to listen to it in 1 sitting from beginning to end. You should bring the lyrics up as well.

I don't think you've ever heard my album I made along with the ex-singer from Zoetrope. It's not an instrumental album, it actually has some *cough* singing: Monstrosity If that link doesn't work, this one will. Just hit the "Play" button on the right side on the grey banner in the link, and it'll play the entire album. SoundClick artist: PRDMonstrosity - page with MP3 music downloads http://i539.photobucket.com/albums/f...trosity001.png You've got a load of listening to do, and probably will have a load more. Hope you're up for it. |

Yeah this should be fun, till my arms fall off from overwork... :D I think I can do an album a day; as I'm not going to be writing a review it should not take as much time as it normally would. I'll also note at the end whether or not each album is something I would consider actually reviewing at some point, or not. |

Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Trilogy Triology is one of my all time favorite albums, well definitely the first half hour of it is incredible imho. I think I can guess what you are going to say about that album, and I know it ain't pretty. |

OK then, strap yourselves in and let's go!
(Note: I may not actually "love" anything on an album, but for the purposes of this thread, "love" refers to anything I like about it, or at least don't hate) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ian_Hunger.jpg Title: Transilvanian Hunger Artiste: Darkthrone Genre: Black Metal Pithy comment: Why do they spell Transylvania the way they do? Love: 1. The guitar work. Bloody melodic for a Black Metal band and if it wasn't for the vocals I could listen to this a lot more easily. I actually think this is really great. 2. Head did not melt, as I had expected Hate: 1. Anyone? The vocals are as usual ridiculously hard to make out and not at all easy on the ear, but then, this is Black Metal! 2. Very samey, repetitive, couldn't really tell one track from another. 3. Everything superfast (but again, see comment on voice) End result: Not bad but not really something I'd be eager to return to, not because it's too loud or scared me or repulsed me, but because it just sounds all the same to me. So, Love or Hate? Without the vocals quite possibly Love, but I guess I'll have to go with Hate. Chances of a full review: 1/10 |

Title: Vehicle Artiste: Mirthkon Genre: Progressive Rock Pithy comment: I think Frownland is trying to trick me here... Love: 1. The opening monolgue/car sale spiel; totally hilarious and fits in really well with the album title 2. The cat sounds at the end of “Zhagunk” 3. The end of “Kharma Way”, the piano was nice 4. Guitar solo in “Honey key jamboree” is great Hate: 1. The jazzy overtones as the second track begins. There is a section of progressive rock I do not enjoy and it's this type. Too much sax and flutes: ugh. 2. Avant-jazz? You bastard Frown! :banghead: 3. The vocals when they come in after about eight tracks: really annoying 4. Autotune? Auto-****ing-tune??? 5. That I feel like I'm listening to a Frownland album (no doubt he'll take that as a compliment, but you know I didn't mean it that way). End result: Absolutely hated this. Hey Batty! I actually prefer a Black Metal album on which I can't even distinguish the vocals to this progressive rock one! A win for you, huh? So, Love or Hate? Hate, without doubt. Chances of a full review: 0/10 |

Damn, I thought the light heartedness of it would help you overlook the avant elements. I guess you and great tunes really don't see eye to eye.
And I usually don't like auto tune either but this is one of the few cases where I think it works. |
