Title: An Interlude to the Outermost Artiste: Kiss the Anus of a Black Cat Genre: Neofolk Familiarity: Hewers of wood and drawers of water Track 1(Love) Very atmospheric and introspective instrumental opener Track 2(Love) The album gets going properly with an uptempo number; great vocals, jangly guitar. Great passion in this song. Track 3(Love) This is kind of darker, more violins and what I think is an accordion at the end? Track 4(Love) This has more of an indie rock vibe to it; more accordion I think Track 5(Love) Is that cello at the start being plucked? Then a (high stringed?) guitar? Kind of sounds like water dripping, if music were water. Lovely line from the cellos and violins. Maybe a little repetitive though? Track 6(Love) Darker, bleaker, kind of stripped down to a degree. Have to say, for a nine-minute track this again is very repetitive and I'd think it's overstretched quite a lot. Finishes well though. Track 7(Love) Another nine-minuter. I hope this one is not just padded out like the previous one was to an extent. Good leading accordion line, nice militaristic drumbeat. There's an extended instrumental passage in the middle, but it feels right that it's there, unlike the previous track which seemed to be just struggling to fill up time. Actually that instrumental goes right to the end of the track. Track 8(Love) Slow acoustic track with some nice bass work and a sense of loss about it. Mournful violin; love the way it unexpectedly explodes in the last minute or so. Did not see that coming! Track 9(Love) A good, slightly bouncy closer. End result: I kind of had an idea this would be a good album, and it didn't disappoint. I should probably listen to more of their material, having been up to now put off by the ugly name. So, Love or Hate? Another Love. Chances of a full review: 7/10

i highly suggest Hewers of Wood and Drawers of Water....not quite as bleak (although it has its moments ) but possibly his masterpiece...
[edit]which i see you have listened to then i suggest If The Sky Falls, We Shall Catch Larks (just because it has my favorite song by them....and i feel you like cats) Interlude is just my personal favorite Glad you loved it.... also track seven is actually a cover of an anarchist punk band called Rudimentary Peni....the original is 1:10 cheers man....i think i have a couple more loves up my sleeves when the time comes |

I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to, but I'm pretty sure Trollheart doesn't do drugs.

Very monotone vocals. Guitarist like to hit a few sour notes every solo. A sameness to all of the songs. Not at all hard or heavy. Almost folkish to a fault.
I'll give it a second listen though.

Like I said, I'll give it another go. There's definitely some very pleasing qualities to it. I just had different expectations going in.

For what it's worth, I listened to that this morning and absolutely loved it. Thanks, Vwls.
EDIT: Oops, got my albums mixed up. I meant WWWP. Although I'm checking out Vwls' shortly.
