Title: Marquee moon
Artiste: Television
Genre: Post-punk

Track 1(Love) Nice clean guitar sound, reminds me of T-Rex or Bowie. Nice solo. Decent track but nothing terribly special.
Track 2(Love) Like the melody in this one, and the kind of more psychedelic feel to it.
Track 3(Love) This one's good too. Like the riff.
Track 4(Love) Over nine minutes of hard rock goodness. Some superb guitar work here, and I can hear where the late Michael Hutchence got some of his influence years later.
Track 5(Love) And another great track, though every time he says “Elevation” I think he's saying “television”!
Track 6(Love) A really nice ballad, great piano, sort of a Country feel to it
Track 7(Love) Yeah, really like this one too.
Track 8(Love) Good closer, sort of a slow dramatic feel about it.

End result: While it's, as I said, nothing that stands out as terribly special to me, it's a decent album and there wasn't a track on it I didn't like. And yet, there's something about it that tells me I won't be going out of my way to investigate any more Television. I honestly don't get how it's rated so high and revered as it appears to be. I guess you had to be there at the time to properly appreciate it.

So, Love or Hate? Nevertheless, a definite Love

Not sure if you're taking recommendations from newer members, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on Demon Days by the Gorillaz. Loving the thread so far!

EDIT: The album is on YouTube, I'm just unable to post links.

Well I have a Gorillaz album to put in the queue, but provided you're planning to stick around and be part of the community here I'll put yours in after the last one. Welcome.

Edit: You can post YouTube links, just not links to your own music or any advertising. Click the second-last icon at the top of the post screen (just before Show/Hide) and insert everything after the v= in the YT address, which will then post the video.

Title: On Avery Island
Artiste: Neutral Milk Hotel
Genre: Indie

Track 1(Love) Is the production like really bad on this? Even so, I love the sort of stream-of-consciousness lyric and the trumpets (trombones?) are great. Really boppy, uptempo and cheerful. Good start.
Track 2(Love) Bit slower and more controlled, but still really like this. Organs are cool on this track. But I must say, the production is spoiling it a little for me. It's like listening to an old vinyl album that's seen better days. I've checked other musical sources on my PC and they play fine, so it's not just my system.
Track 3(Love) Acoustic ballad, lovely. Also the production is much, much better here. Very short track though.
Track 4(Love) Yeah, this is weird but in a good way. Like listening to a videogame while someone plays bagpipes or something. Interesting.
Track 5(Love) The marching beat just makes this song. Love it.
Track 6(Love) Oh, the combination of bass, organ and trumpet (yeah maybe it's a trombone; whatever it is it's wicked!) --- sublime!
Track 7(Love) There's great power in the guitar here. And again, those horns!
Track 8(Love) Another powerful track with a little touch of aggression about it.
Track 9(Love) Slow and something of a dirge but still very good
Track 10(Love) Another slow one, kind of acoustic. Like everything on this so far.
Track 11(Love) Very stark guitar on this, the horns add a great sense of morosity and bleakness.
Track 12(Hate) This song is nearly fourteen minutes long! Well it's just basically been the same melody and rhythm for the last three... ah, wait, it's changing now. Well, not quite: it's had some bells and whistles added but it's still the same repeated chords and notes. Sounds like a glockenspiel or something now as we hit the sixth minute. Yeah it's pretty much that all the way through. I don't actually Hate it but I can't say I Love it, so it's the first black mark against this album.
Track 13(Love) Yeah we're back on track. Good rocky uptempo track, great guitars.
Track 14(Love) Am I mad, or does this have a VU feel to it? Even the guitar sound like the Velvets. To me, who knows little to nothing of them. Sitar in there too?

End result: Really great album, a big improvement on ITAOTS (I know this came first) although maybe I need to relisten to that album. But this is great.

So, Love or Hate? A sure Love

Awesome! That album deserves more recognition.

Glad you liked this I probably prefer it to ITAOTS as well I love the scuzzy lo-fi production (it was recorded on a 4-track home recording device btw). Oh and I guess you listened to the UK version because I don't have the two songs at the end those are bonus tracks the US pressing has it end at Pree-Sisters.

I don't know too much about your musical preference, but I'll go ahead and reccomend Dean Martin's "Italian Love Songs" from 1962. I've been loving it lately and IMO is probably one of if not his best. If you don't like slower vocal stuff though you'll hate it.

Man, of all the Brat Pack I really hate Dean Martin! But what the hey, I'm game. I'll give it a shot. (No pun intended!) Certainly is different anyway! :thumb:

Uh oh, you'll probably hate it then if you don't like The Rat Pack lol. It's not general jazzy Kick In The Head Type stuff, entirely Italian love ballads. Here's hoping to you'll love it, I gotta say it's beautiful stuff.
